It's because it's a different system presumably, besides they didn't have my debit card details only DD. Perhaps they only accept Visa or credit cards for Sky Store purchases?
It's hardly a big deal.0 -
60% off full package includes HD, and £50 credit. 30 day rolling contract. £32 a month. Took that. 8th year of half price or better.0

Ask them if they have any better deals come up since as you're getting turned off in a couple of days but try to sound disinterested in their answer as they will give you the least possible as that's their job.
.
I don't believe this is the case anymore. Retentions agents performance is measured more on "saves" nowadays. In any sales role you never give your best offer first as it leaves you nowhere to go though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Moving house at then end of January and looking to keep Sky when we move. Current sky deal is Variety bundle, sports and cinema around £59 a month and the account is in my wife's name.
Had sky for about 6 years now and never really bothered to haggle for a better deal. Going to go on live chat and give notice on current deal and see what they come back with. Have though worse case scenario we can take out sky as a new customer in my name at new address.
Would like multi room for the new house and possibly the sports in HD. Are these things to try and gettin added in as part of negotiation of a new deal? Is any deal we get likely to be as good as a new customer? Happy to play the waiting game and see what they come back with0 -

You should be able to equal or better that as an existing customer though (perhaps keeping your existing equipment).0 -

Sky phoned me today and managed to get this improved to 60% off TV with no contract, £10 off fibre and £50 credit. Works out at £62.13 per month for 12 months including the credit, for TV package with box sets, sports and movies, unlimited fibre, line rental and unlimited calls.
Possibly could have done slightly better if I'd waited but happy with that and accepted.0 -

That's for the first 12 months and at full price for the last 6 months of an 18 month contract. There's no broadband/phone line included in that though.

According to Watchdog, a number of customers are not at all impressed by Q ,having upgraded from the old box, so perhaps it's better to stay with the old technology until they bugs are sorted.
However, I wonder if this is possible, if the new house doesn't have a dish and cabling installed.0 -

Hmm, didn't know that about the Q box. I've been told that everybody is getting upgraded this coming year so I'd hold off myself anyway unless they're going in as a new customer.
It's not that difficult to fit the dish and cabling yourself given the correct drills and such but Sky would fit it for them to keep a customer. Possibly use it as a bargaining chip (free installation) and if no success then consider the new customer option.0 -
Doubt that's right about everyone being upgraded to Q in the next year. I've been beta testing for Sky HD+ recently and it's pretty clear it will be around for a few years yet
If you want to upgrade yourself (I.e multi room) then you will have to go to Q unless you are in a situation where that's not possible. For example, you are on a communal system that hasn't been upgraded yet0
