  • Right! no more putting it off.. doing this tomorrow.

Not in contract, on old packages so I know big reductions are possible... so how is the best way?

I was thinking of just phoning customer service (never done that ever) and just saying I feel pretty conned paying so much more than new customers, just cancel it all please and see what happens?

Does it take multiple phone calls? or is an online chat better?

Or would one of you seasoned hagglers like to pop round and do it for me? :rotfl::rotfl: (I am useless at this sort of stuff). Not looking to wring them dry but I reckon I am paying double what I should be.

    Pointers please.

I would say online chat is the best way (but be prepared to wait a long time for it to connect) .
  • Iv just cancelled sky Q yesterday, I was on an 18 month 50% of deal on their top package sports, boxsets, movies HD. Was paying £60 a month, The price has now doubled to £120, phones up and said it was more than I’d pay, they reduced it to £90. Still a bit more than I wanted to pay, phoned virgin and they offered me pretty much the same package but included BT sports for £79 on an 8 month deal Phoned sky back up and told them i had a good offer from virgin and I would cancel, and tbh she didn’t seem bothered at all, said £90 was best she would do. So I cancelled, haven’t had anything in my online account offering me any new deals, just an email confirming cancellation.
I’d have stayed with them if they had matched virgins offer but they didn’t even ask me what virgins offer was?.
What’s my odds of them contacting me?

If they're not bothered why are you so bothered about going back to them?
Get Netflix and you'll have catch up services on your smart TV or buy a cheap amazon firestick or something. You'll miss the convenience of sky for a few weeks but after that there's no going back.

Sky are losing a lot of business to Netflix - which is why they've partnered up with them by merging Netflix with sky q. If we, the viewers vote with our feet then sky will eventually have to listen and lower prices

If only that were true - but unfortunately the subscribers on here are in a small minority - there are still many millions of Sky TV customers who wouldn't even think of haggling - they just pay their £100+ pm for football in UHD - I have personal knowledge of a relation who listens to my tale of annual negotiation, but then says "its not worth the effort":(

aye. I agree. I know a few people who pay upwards of £60 for their Sky, they know they can get a better deal by calling up, but 'its not worth the effort' as you just said.

I only stay with sky because of the golf channel, 405.... is that available any other way do you guys know?

I concur. If you go online chat it gives you thinking time which I find very helpful. I try and keep if very light and pleasant. They will try and change your package first. Just say you want the package you have and see what they come up with but don't except their first offer. They are very good at messing with the discount terms and contract period to make the offer appear better than it is. Finally don't be afraid to go back if they fail to come up with what you want. Try again later it's all a bit random.
    Good luck!

Well tried, they are hard going though! was on the old variety package at £33.50 which as far as I can tell is the same as the Entertainment package is now give or take. plus cinema at £18!

Got the total to nearly half what was paying and a bit cheaper than new sign ups for the same deal so I can live with that, although people on here do a lot better.

Its partly my own fault for not doing what Martin Lewis constantly reminds us, review your direct debits and contracts to see if your paying too much. I do for most things but tend to dismiss 'entertainment' as its usually under long contract so not much you can do. Actually has been on rolling term for years! doh!
