Had a call back today, offered all normal channels + hd + movies for £27 which i've accepted although its about as high as i wanted to pay. Only thing they removed is boxsets which i've never used anyway.
12month contract too.0 -
I put cancellation notice couple of weeks ago.
Today went on chat to see what they would offer
I got 12 months contract
£11 Entertaintment package
£1 HD
£1 Kids
£1 boxset
Total £14 pm on a 12 months contract and
£10 Admin fee
I am on hd+ box. Tried upgrading to skyq but was too expensive.
So took this offer and renewed the contract.
This thread really helped me to understand what deal people are getting so massive thanks to all.0 -
I just had another call. This time from BB. Told them if I!!!8217;m going to renew, I want to do it as 1 package. He!!!8217;s getting someone from the !!!8216;Value Department!!!8217; to call me back. Not heard of that before, he says they have better deals. Is this the retention dept does anyone know?
Interesting to see people getting 12 month contract, they seemed pretty insistent it!!!8217;s 18 months only now.0 -
My current 50% discount on my packages is due to expire and I received a letter offering me some new discounts, which were worth 25% and so represented a cost increase of £15. I currently have the Original package, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.
I phoned them up and the guy said that he couldn't match, never mind improve on, what my letter offered. I explained that I couldn't justify the additional cost and would therefore need to cancel the TV component of my Sky package (I also take standard broadband and line rental with them).
Having been transferred to the cancellation team and explained my situation, they were much more keen to help and discounted broadband and line rental to £20 (from £30), Sky Sports to £17, Entertainment to £13 (more channels than Original), and Sky Cinema to £8.
I decided to drop Sky Cinema, as I hardly use it. That brought my monthly cost down to £50. They have also given me free HD on the Entertainment package. This is for 18 months.
There is a £10 admin fee in the first month, which wasn't mentioned on the phone (slightly annoying), but overall a decent deal.0 -
Currently paying £23.35 for fibre, line rental and entertainment, HD and boxsets but due to expire recently with prices jumping to £68.43.
After talking with them I was offered the same package for £45. I have cancelled TV and managed to renegotiate Fibre and line rental down to £18 for the next 12 months.
Since cancelling my TV I have been offered entertainment for £11, HD for a £1 and boxsets for £1. Has anyone been offered anything better recently on TV or is this a pretty standard offer ?0 -
I had been paying around £119 a month for my package with Sky which included.
Variety bundle HD,
Sky sports Hd
Sky fibre unlimited
Sky anytime talk and line rental,
I recently got an £8 a month reduction on
Sky sports bringing my bill down to £110.99, but felt the package was still way too much.
So using MSE tips on haggling with sky I managed to get a further £22 a month knocked off and added sky cinema to the package for free. I’m now paying £89.99 for the next 18 months.
However it wasn’t all plain sailing to get this deal.
I asked to cancel and the retention team offered me the £22 a month reduction but unbeknown to me actually removed services.
Namingly HD channels
Sports Hd
Boxsets
It wasn’t until the deal went live we realised we lost these services.
I had negotiated the deal through their live chat on Facebook messenger. So I decided to call them and tell them I’d lost services and told them I wanted them reinstated.
I had to screenshot part of the messenger chat and send to sky to prove I hadn’t asked for these services to be removed, which I clearly said in the chat I wanted to retain. After some back and forth with the retention team. They reinstated the lost services and honoured the price quoted.
I now have the full sky package with the exception of Sky Q and children’s channels saving a decent £30 per month.
On top of this me and my wife are also switching our sim only mobiles over to sky to save a further £15 a month0 -

I would ring them up and query it. Have a look back a previous posts to see what most posters think of this which has only recently been introduced.0 -

Interesting thread, glad I found it.
I've been with sky since 1995 and now my monthly bill is £51.50. They are sneaky because they will keep increasing your bill by small increments every year. Because £1.50 doesn't seem a lot it doesn't really stand out. It then became clear that I was actually paying a lot of money for not a lot. The programs have definitely degraded over time, the films are rubbish and to be honest with you there is only a couple of programs I really watch. I've had Netflix for about a year now and pay £5.99 a month. If you've never had this before then you should have a look at it because there is absolutely loads of stuff on there. Okay, they're not quite up to date like sky is with the movies, but they do add them on a fairly regular basis.
I've been toying with the idea of trying to get a reduction on sky but I've now decided to cancel the whole package. I normally pay around the 12th of each month. Silly question, if I cancel now I assume that sky will carry on until the next payment is due?
Also, I have a television in my bedroom that is connected to my sky box via a cable. I had it set up like this because I didn't have a television aerial for this particular area of my house, only a satellite dish. However, I recently had a TV aerial installed and the guy who installed everything set things up so not only did the sky signal travel down this cable but also the signal from the TV aerial. This means I could watch you that digital television through an aerial or such over to sky TV. Something happened the other day and I can't receive sky on the television TV, only digital TV. Anyway, I'm assuming that once everything is cancelled this cable will still carry a signal from my TV aerial?
It will be interesting to see what kind of offers I get after cancellation, however, I don't plan on signing up with them again. There will be a few programs I will miss, unfortunately. The Walking Dead is one of my favourites as I watched it from the very beginning.0 -

Have you really had Sky for 23 years and never considered cancellation before?
I don't know why you are so impressed with Netflix after so many years with multi-channel TV, but it's a darn sight cheaper than Sky I agree.
You have to give Sky a month's notice of cancellation. That means your services will end a month later.0
