There will be a few programs I will miss, unfortunately. The Walking Dead is one of my favourites as I watched it from the very beginning.

This might be of interest https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/internet/walking-dead-3627099/
Now TV (same owners as Sky) always have offers and you are not tied to a long subscription. You just have to make sure you cancel at the right time.
  • Sounds like you've physically disconnected something? Check your cables. Whether you continue to receive Freeview via your aerial has absolutely nothing to do with your Sky subscription.

Have you really had Sky for 23 years and never considered cancellation before?

I don't know why you are so impressed with Netflix after so many years with multi-channel TV, but it's a darn sight cheaper than Sky I agree.

You have to give Sky a month's notice of cancellation. That means your services will end a month later.

I don't think I have disconnected anything, I can't see anything on the back of my sky HD box that looks out of place. I'm wondering if I have to tune the bedroom television into the satellite again? I really don't have any idea. If I go to HDMI then it just shows a disconnected cable image.

No, never really thought about cancelling in 23 years. However, I'm simply not prepared to pay £51.50 just to watch two or three programs every now and then, maybe a film every few weeks. I'd be happy to pay £20 a month for what I have at the moment, plus keeping the old HD sky box plus. However, it's just not worth any more as far as I'm concerned. Quite happy sticking with Netflix if there's nothing on normal television.

Do you have to enable the HDMI on the Sky box to output on HDMI to a tv?
I think there is also settings on the Sky box for RF out and scart if thaey are still used.

Also, I have a television in my bedroom that is connected to my sky box via a cable. I had it set up like this because I didn't have a television aerial for this particular area of my house, only a satellite dish. However, I recently had a TV aerial installed and the guy who installed everything set things up so not only did the sky signal travel down this cable but also the signal from the TV aerial. This means I could watch you that digital television through an aerial or such over to sky TV. Something happened the other day and I can't receive sky on the television TV, only digital TV. Anyway, I'm assuming that once everything is cancelled this cable will still carry a signal from my TV aerial

I can't quite see how they did this? Is it two splitters at either end with the first splitter being reversed? Sounds like a connection issue maybe where the two cable join and/or separate.

Turns out my deal wasn't activated after checking mysky so rang them up. They said it should have been 18 month not 12 term. I guessing thats why it didnt go through properly.

I don't really fancy 18months so cancelled again, pretty happy to be saving £486 over 18months. I've got a humax freesat box which will do fine i think.

    I had:
    Sky Q 2tb box
    Sky Q Multiscreen
    Sky Sports HD
    Box Sets Bundle
    Kids Bundle

    with a 60% discount costing £45 a month.

Coming to end now so went on live chat to cancel and told them I was moving to Virgin and they said can offer the same package as price as what i was on on an 18 month contract!

Lot easier than what i thought it was going to be!

He got it wrong and didn't include multiscreen which would have been £12 a month but has given me a £10 discount on sport so works out at £47 a month which still happy with!
  • I just contacted sky and cancelled my subscription. Apparently, I was paying £51.50 for the variety pack which included children's television. I suspect it was down to when my ex-girlfriend was living here with her young son, that was well over 10 years ago.

Anyway, I was in chat for nearly an hour. I must say the salesman was trying very hard to make me stay. In the end, the lowest offer he gave me was for the entertainment pack. He offered me a monthly payment of £17 for 18 months. I thought that was pretty good.

That is not a good deal.
I make that Sky have given you a 15% discount as Entertainment is £20 pm if i think you have a fixed contract and not a rolling contract.
You should of put in to cancel there and then.

It's actually 32% discount as the £20 price is discounted from £25.

I read it as they have cancelled anyway, although £17 over £51.50 is a win in anyone's book.
