  • I'm two months into my current contract which offers 60% off, free bb, half price anytime phone and discounted line rental, I really want this Sky Q box as I'm fed up with recordings clashing and sometimes the box freezing, it is over 5 years old. Is there anyway I can get a deal on this box, when I looked at ordering online they wanted £199 for it .

I assume that you are on a 12-month contract. It will be difficult for you to get a new Sky Q box let alone a new HD + Sky box. If you are on a rolling contract, just tell Sky that you want to cancel your TV with them cos of your box. You will probably find that they will try to charge you an engineer's visit but don't pay anything. Stand firm and refuse to pay anything.

When the engineer visits he won't probably test the box and just replace it with a reconditioned box.

If you are not in a rolling contract, just contact Sky to advise that you have a 'fault with your Sky dish'. Again do not pay them anything. When they come out, just say that you have a faulty box. You will probably that he will replace the box without doing any investigations.

My box was replaced for free a few months ago using a similar tactic.

    Good luck and HTHs.

75% off and £100 credit if you have left within the past 12 months available for most people on their mysky account: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sky-rejoin-with-75-off-100-credit-2546986
  • We have been with Sky for a few years, last year I got a deal for Sky TV, BB, line rental for £33.
Rang again this year, told them I was definitely leaving as we didn't need the TV any more and cheaper deals were around. Got offered TV+, not sky TV, unlimited BB and line rental for £22.40 so we are staying with Sky again.

In my case, they have always offered the free Sky+ service, when they realise that the previous offers won't be taken.
  • People that are trying for a 50% or 60% off deal, is this for SKY TV or the TV & Broadband packages? I am needing to get a better deal on my whole package as year offer I had has just expired so should I say I am looking to cancel both, or is it better to keep the BB at deal they are offering right now and hold out for them to offer me a new TV package?

    1. The deals of 50/60/75% off being quoted at the moment are for TV ONLY.
    2. Generally better to treat the TV and phone/bband deals as separate issues. Cancel the TV part first and then wait for offers.
    3. When you get an offer for TV that you find acceptable, see what they will do to keep your phone/bband at the same time.
    4. If the phone/bband deal offered isn't acceptable DON'T cancel -find another supplier and allow them to take over your phone/bband !
Cancelling phone/bband with Sky WITHOUT a new supplier can result in your services being off for days or weeks and possibly the loss of your personal phone number, as well as an extra cease charge.:(
The big advantage with cancelling the TV part only is that it can be switched on and off almost instantaneously.:)
  • How long have people typically waited for a deal after cancelling?

I've been a Sky customer for 5 years. I have TV, incl, Sport & Movies, Broadband and Phone. Monthly cost is approx £90. I don't usually haggle much, sometimes get 6 months discount on part of it.

I phoned up and cancelled on 1st Nov. I wasn't really offered much on the phone, more of an upsell for no extra cost. My service is due to finish on 1st Dec and I'm yet to hear anything.
Have most people received an offer via MySky?

Like others, I was offered 50% off for 10 months in a 12 month contract, at th e time of cancellation, then 50% for 12 months, followed by 60% , but this offer lasted only 2 days and reverted to the first one.

I didn't check much, after switch off, but about 4 weeks later, when someone posted about an offer on their My Sky, I checked and found I had the 75% off with £100 credit offer.

I left before the new pricing, but could only get an offer of full price line an dcalls with free ADSL, so went elsewhere.

Brewerdave - good advice. I have to go through this Friday as price wacked up (predictably) as I'm about to go out of contract.

I agree re the phone/broadband thing, it's a nightmare to cancel and be left with nothing.
I can just cancel the TV element then as this is what's seeming to ramp the price up?

I guess if they don't come through with a deal I could just get a freeview box to take me through Christmas, which I'm happy to unless there are other suggestions?
