As of yet I have not been inundated with phone calls from the winback team after giving my notice a few weeks ago - opening offer was 50% off when I gave them the notice.

Have no issue if it gets turned off as we dont watch the non FTA services anyway and there will be another discount + credit deal at some point in the future.

Really ? So what if you get a better deal with Plusnet, BT, VM, etc. ?

Suggest people always try to go for a rolling contract. If you find a good deal with another supplier, you can then negotiate a deal with Sky to stay with them. I If they don't at least match their offer, then give 30 days notice to cancel and move.

Exactly. I always insist on a rolling contract.

I don't know why you would want to lock yourself in when you don't need to? You are just limiting your options needlessly.

When I renewed last year I asked if the deal could be improved if I agreed to a new 12 month minimum term rather than a 30 day rolling deal. I was told no.
  • BTW if you intend to use the online messaging service they become live at 8:45am(?). I never noticed that and posted my first message before 8:30am, it didn't reject it and was answered promptly at 8:45am so unless I just got lucky perhaps that's the way to go. Next time I use it I'll try and post even earlier to see if there's any limit. Certainly beats waiting 40 minutes on the phone and then spending another hour only to be disappointed.

I checked on my Sky box this morning and it's got the expected 30% offer to come back, I think it's just an automated message so I'm not getting irritated by it after my initial 50% on messenger.

My Sky tv has been off for over a week now and no phone or emails from them.
I have checked mysky on 3 options and all of them still say dont leave and offer 30% off 12 months sky+hd and if i click left in the last 12 months it says i have to call Sky.
If i click to see what offers are on my account it tells me that it can not display any to call sky for more info.
I am not expecting any calls from Sky as it seems they are cutting down on offers.

My Sky contract ended a week ago. It was a TV, Broadband, Landline deal. I have a basic TV pack with no films, sports, box sets etc. I do get Sky Atlantic and Sky Living which is my main reason for being with them. I do not pay a TV licence ... the legal method ... so do not watch any live-broadcast TV and only use download / catch-up. It seems ludicrous that I can't even watch Sky channels live but the law is ntiuted in today's digital age.
I have an o,d TV set that is neither HD nor smart.I am thinking of buying a tablet that can connect via mini-hdmi.
I'm unsure as to what Netflix, Amazon, Fire stick, freeview etc offer these days and whether my lack of a TV licence impacts on them.

I'm looking for advice as to how to either negotiate a new Sky deal or what alternatives to consider.

    Many thanks.

I have 15 days to go to switch off on my 75% offer and have had no communication since giving notice. I haven't checked My Sky or the online account as the offer is very unlikely to be repeated and this wouldn't happen until some time after cease ,anyway.

Actually, I've watched very little actual Sky content, since cancelling and have deleted most films after few minutes viewing as the content was childish, unnecessarily crude or difficult to hear (if the volume is switched up for speech, you are deafened when music plays or a car starts up).

Just used online chat to process my cancellation after the 75% and £100 bill credit deal from last year. Straight away i was offered a 60% discount on the full package, which included a discount on the HD pack which they dont normally do. However they wanted it to be a 18 month contact and there was a £10 'admin' fee to pay.
S o in went my 31 days notice and time to play the waiting game

Well my sky is due to be turned off in 7 days. I was on the 75% off deal. Most I have been offered is 50% off and £25 credit at cancellation. No phone calls just a letter again offering the 50% off.
So looks as though its bye bye sky. Shame they are being selective about who has their deals extended.
