I was thinking of trying for a Q system but I'm having serious 2nd thoughts.
Same boat. Messenger is no longer an option for me either.
This morning I`ve been offered the same via Chat - 50% off and £25 credit....which I`d have accepted if the 50% applied to HD as well!
100% agree on Sky Q. Ain`t gonna touch it at the moment3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0 -
That's looking better, seems like 50% £25 credit is being offered freely now. Just needs the next step to 60% and they'll get me.
One thing I can't understand though is if the q system is only loaned out to you, why are we paying £££ for it? That might change if loads get returned at the end of the contact
Also want sky q but gettng into an 18 month contract for it doesn't appeal.0 -

"why are we paying £££ for it?", that's the £199 question isn't it?
If they increase the credit for me that'll make up for the 10% drop in discount.
I think Q is being offered on a 12 month contract now.0 -

I've only ever been offered 18 months which I don't like as it's splitting the contacts.0 -
Hi,
Just thought I'd post my annual haggle with Sky. I do this via the live chat every year as its easier to do and if I don't have any success I can just close the conversation politely and go back in to get a adviser who will haggle. I always try to haggle the first time and then if they don't budge cancel my TV package all together. I then wait a day or so for the offer to come through on the Sky box and not on my web account as the offer seems to be greater through the box, or I see what other people have been getting and tell a white lie saying I've got x% offer off. Obviously nothing ridiculous because they'll know its not a true offer.
So on to this year. Renegotiated on 19/10/17. Was previously paying £75 in total for Sky HD+ with Sports, Sports HD, Box Sets package, Unlimited Broadband (cant get fibre in my area), Anytime Calls. I was happy to pay this price at the time.
I wanted Sky Q this year as I like what you can do with it. I now have Sky Q router (had the rubbish one before and said I had connectivity issues. I didn't, just wanted the better router) Sky Q 2TB box with one mini box, Sky Box sets, Unlimited Broadband, Anytime call for £65 a month in total. 12 months offer, 18 month Sky Q contract, will obviously cancel or renegotiate at the end of the offer. I didn't pay anything for equipment or install.
In my area I could get exactly the same broadband and talk package with John Lewis for £25 with a 12 month contract. Sky were going to charge me £37 for the exact same thing. Sent the link for John Lewis on the chat. Initially said nothing they can do. I point out that new customers get £50 Mastercard credit. They gave me £50 credit and discounted my packge to £25.60. I was happy with that as near enough the same as John Lewis.
I wanted Sky Q but had read you had to pay for install and equipment. I also knew that because I wanted the latest stuff I would probably have to downgrade my package. I mentioned that I've been with Sky for a long time and that I am a platinum member on the Sky rewards app. I also kept mentioning new customers don't pay for new equipment. In the end I removed my sports package as I don't use that very much, and can go to the pub to watch it for a year. I'm happy with the deal I got and will keep doing the same thing every year. Worst case scenario is to leave Sky all together and join with my partner or sons name. I know technically this is not allowed but have done this in the past with no issues. Just use a different card to pay with.
My tips would be to be polite and persevere. If you don't get what your happy with keep trying with another adviser till you do. I end up telling them what I want and for how much and leave it up to them. Use the threat of Netflix etc.
I now want 2 more mini Sky Q boxes and want to know if anyone has avoided paying the £99 fee. I'm trying to get it without paying as I don't see why I should pay £99 for something I don't technically own. Installation is plug in and press the WPS button.
I had my Q setup today. Everything works fine. I got the engineer to make sure the signal was fine in the other 2 rooms. So I can install it on my own.
Thanks for any replies in advance0 -

If you are signed up for 18 months, they will want full price after the 12 month offer period is over -can't see you managing to renegotiate and if you cancel the ETF will be horrendous:eek:0 -

Doubtful as they've got you by the short & curlies now, the only leverage I can think you've got is if (and it's a big if) you're still in a cooling off period.
Is it not £99 per box? So they'd want another £198.0 -
I tried the winback team and they don't seem to be budging much. I eventually just took the 50% offer on the TV package with no admin fee on a rolling monthly contract for 18 months (yes, 18 months). My BB/LR (ADSL) goes up to full price mid December but I couldn't get a rolling monthly contract on the present deal so I'll just bite the bullet on that.
We're moving in the next 2-3 months (don't know where yet) and I don't know what's available or the speeds we'll get so I'll let Sky pay for the free move and new set-up, keep my phone number and then look at the offers from everybody. I'm getting really ticked off with Sky due to the hoops they make you jump through and happily told them my plans after the deal was agreed and why.
To get to the winback team (if you're cancelled or already left) call on 03332 022 135 and just say 'winback team' when asked your reason for the call. I was put through straight off.0 -

Have you had confirmation of 18 month discounted deal? ie email
There seem to be a lot of weasel words being spoken about 18 month tie ins with 12 month deals currently.0 -

Actually I've had no notification at all although my future bills have updated. It's a rolling monthly contract anyway, I'm not going to be with them on this deal for the 18 months regardless. They've ticked me off too much, I'll look for another supplier once we've moved (for the full package) and give them one single call to match or better it as I'm fed up having to jump through hoops with these jokers. if necessary we'll play the new customer card using the wifes name. They want to play silly beggars with us then we'll do the same.0
