It has been a couple of months now since my Sky TV switched off. Had a few missed calls and got a couple of letters through. The letters were for 50% off using the link Sky.com/offer50 and Sky.com/best50 These took me to a page which said they can't process my order online and to go to live chat. I tried changing the number at the end of the links and and sky.com/offer60 Sky.com/offer75 sky.com/best60 and sky.com/best75 also took me to a page saying they couldn't process my order online and to live chat. Makes me think they must be live for 60/75% offers I haven't tried live chat on any of the links though so can't say if they work.

Since my Sky TV switched off I have switched to Now TV and have to say I am not really missing Sky at all. I got 3 Now TV boxes when my work had double staff discount last week , plus 500 Clubcard points when buying a box. So I got 3 boxes for £48, 2 months entertainment pass, 2 months cinema pass, £16.47 Sky Store credit plus 1590 Clubcard points which I can triple/quadruple up online for deals. Adding the passes I got with boxes to passes I already had I now have entertainment free until May next year and cinema free until Feb. Having a box for each room and being able to watch on 2 devices at one time eliminates multi-room costs.

Taking off the HD/SD simulcasts, +1 hour channels, and the channels that are free anyway there really wasn't much left that I was paying for with Sky. Now TV gives us access to most of the channels and boxsets that we watched plus movies and on demand iplayers. The only thing I missed about Sky is live pause and rewind but after a few weeks I have got used to it. It would take a really great deal from Sky now to make me go back with them again for TV!
  • Well I got them to 50% off, a £25 credit (without asking, I suspect the admin fee's the cause of that) and on a rolling monthly contract so rolling contracts are certainly on the table. This was for the TV package, they'd have continued the free BB 'just' paying LR but for a 12 month contract.

I'm still holding out for 60%, they claim there was no option for 60% even if I agreed to a longer contract which I brought up but they also said a few days ago that rolling monthly contracts weren't an option.

This was through live chat which got through instantly at 8:30am.

I clicked the "left sky in the pass 12 months" and was offered 40% max and was told that's all.
I was offered Sky Q 2tb box and mini free and free install but 35% sub discount. I asked about another mini and was told extra £99 but i would have to wait for install then upgrade as they can only do 2 boxes at a time according the chat person. It seemed an ok deal for the Q but i was thinking if i got 2 boxes installed and then went for the other box would it still be free install and £99 or would the cost go up and affect my discount.
I asked if he/she could do better Q discount and the reply was as the box is worth £300 and free install i was getting a great deal so i said no and asked again about more than 40% discount and was told that's all anybody gets for Sky + HD. I said no thanks and goodbye and so did he.

I can categorically state that is a lie, as has been mentioned by numerous others.
I managed to get 50% off TV (including HD) + £25 credit, just a couple of weeks ago :)

No, adding another box further on won't affect your discount I believe and if anything the £99 price would go down in the future.

Telling you it's a £300 box when it's only loaned anyway seems laughable.

I may have missed a trick by not asking for £100 credit to cover the 'admin fee' and extra cost going from 60% to 50%. That's only my 2nd attempt including the cancellation chat and it's always taken me 3 attempts to get what I want with Sky so I'll be back.

Had a 40% off letter arrive today, 16 days before cut off day.
It's a step up from the 30% one I got a week or so ago. Still not up to the original 50% off when I originally called to cancel, but I even refused that.

Hopefully 50 next week then the 60 just before cut off.
Possibly, but I'll hang on and wait.
  • I was on the £42/month SkyQ new customer offer last year.

So I had Movies/Sport with HD and the multiroom (originally the silver package). I have the 2TB box and 3 minis. Last month started a fortnight ago and best they could offer was £66. I rejected and started the cancellation.

I've had no calls/letters/emails since. Is that normal? My marketing settings are all set to allow contact. My sky online account offers 30% and chat has offered 40% (off tv package only, so £63).

Has anyone who took the £42 deal last Oct/Nov had any luck with a good renewal?

I'm reluctant to let the cancelation date slip as the boxes are quite expensive. So even if I got a great offer after leaving this would probably be offset by the cost of the boxes.

Hopefully I get a call... but I'm not so sure..

Sadly yes, that's normal. I'm on a 60% HD+ deal for the TV package which is set to cancel and the best I've had (yesterday) was 50% plus £25 credit to cover the despicable 'admin fee' on a rolling monthly contract.

I'm trying for a £100 credit via SMS at the moment, I was going to use the messenger service again but rather sneakily they've disabled it for me as I used it yesterday and just give me the phone number. Live chat seems to have disappeared also.

That's how they tie you in to the Q system, you are only renting them but they get you to pay large amounts of cash up front with the implicit threat that if you leave you'll have to pay it again if you come back. I wonder how long they'll take to send out a box for you to send them back if your cancellation goes through?

I was thinking of trying for a Q system but I'm having serious 2nd thoughts.

....and herein is exactly why I'll not be having Q anytime soon:rotfl:
Wonder what they are going to do with all this 2nd hand kit when they start receiving it back ? If I was paying the premium for Sky Q I would definitely want brand new equipment not "reconditioned" stuff:)
