Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

  • I just joined Virgin BB with M125 on the weekend, and saw an advert for their Black Friday deals.

Called them up to see if I could switch, put through 3 departments (cold transferred) and was told to cancel and sign up as a new customer, 7 day cancellation as I’m in the cooling off period.

I want to get the M250 deal, wondering if someone will call me back, but I doubt it.
  • I'm out of contract by a couple of weeks, so phoned the outbound retentions number 0203 743 6947.
Got straight through to someone who straight away offered Volt 250, landline and anytime calls for £20 PM.
Or if I didn't want the landline the price would be £18 PM.
2 year contract, which goes up to £24 April 2026, and then up to £28 April 2027.
He also threw in a new hub 5 to replace my ageing hub 3.
All pretty painless and didn't even have to give 30 days notice of cancellation, happy days.

Does time you call them make any difference?  Just wondering?

  • Renewed on chat, I know I could have got better but happy with it.
BB volt 350 anytime chatter x2 boxes v6 TiVo mega tv Netflix sky cinema o2 sim £58 paying £57.77 currently, 2 year contract
Can I ask please had you cancelled when you did this?
  • I rang VM this morning about a broadband query.
At the same time I told a Scottish lady I would be cancelling soon, as my contract ends end of December 2025.
Anyway, we had a chat and I decided to accept what she offered. This was -
M250 broadband, Netflix standard with ads, Mega TV, Sky Sports (HD), Virgin TV V6, telephone line rental (weekend chatter), for £60.25
I've lost TNT sports but gained Sky Sports in HD and Netflix with ads.
I'm now paying £60.25, before £57.52, so an increase but it wont break the bank
I had intended cancelling and awaiting a call from outband retentions, but it's never absolutely certain is it?
Slightly disappointed to lose TNT, which I've watched mainly for Champions League games. That said I'm a Man. Utd supporter and heaven knows when they'll be in Europe again!
So, all in all, reasonably happy, notwithstanding it's a 2 year contract and I know I'll face price increases April 2026 and 2027.

Hi, for those with Virgin sky sports package in SD, has anyone had all the HD channels suddenly becoming available too? Just setting my box to record over the weekend and all the Sky sports HD channels are available to view now and not greyed out on the tv guide either.

It changed back in October and applies to all premium Sky channels on Virgin.

Thanks, wasn’t aware of that. Mine has only changed now though rather than in October.
