Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Just to update on the above. Received a phone call from the VM 'back office' (?) and while they came down a bit re the price quoted, it's still not that good an offer for me. So the cancellation continues.PowerSavingMode said:
I cancelled the other day — contract expires in 28 days now. Got renewal offers when logging in going back more than a month, each 'offer' got more and more expensive, plus counter in the 2 x annual price rises and it was working out much more expensive than going elsewhere, which is what I'm doing.Hurley said:
I'm a month away from renewal and they're there when I login to my account.mrspixie_2 said:How close to renewal time should I get texts or if I log into account any offers?
thanks
Same with me but I never received a call this time. If you login to your bills/account on a desktop/laptop the first page might have a section that says your contract is expiring soon and something about upgrades or renewals. Click on that. I was expecting them to offer more expensive deals with extras I don't need as is the case usually but it was actually more in line with a retention offer. Check about thirty days from the end of your contract.whattochoose said:
With me, there's always been a call from their retention team after putting in my cancellation.Hurley said:Might be worth logging into your account and checking in there come renewal time. I just did and it had an offer to renew to the same deal for another 24 months for a pound cheaper, or take the same package but with slower broadband for £6 less a month. No messing about haggling or threatening to cancel. I took up the second offer and have had a confirmation email through. My price was £49p/m going up to £100p/m now down to £42p/m.
I'm just wondering how their messaging works via one's account?
Please can you tell where I should look on my account if they decide to contact me this way, when my contract comes up for renewal?
Thank you.0 -
I didn't realise my contract has now ended 2 months ago! M125 broadband only jumped from £22.22 to £57.22!!
I shall be cancelling that!!0 -
I hate having to do it, but if it’s the only way to get a good deal I will do it 😞whattochoose said:
I get this too. My contract terminates end of December. I'll probably go through that process I hate of cancelling, in the hope they offer a reasonable deal to retain my business.mrspixie_2 said:When I log in to my account I get your contact is due to expire we may be able to reduce your monthly price and I click on explore your renewal deals, but I just get looking for an upgrade chat to us now ect.I do have three months left on my contract maybe this is why?

CityFibre are now actively servicing our area 18 months after digging all the pavements up. That gives me a realistic service with much faster upload speeds than Virgin can offer at the same download speed as I currently have. Will happily give my notice at the end of the current contract and only stay with VM if they can significantly undercut the offer.mrspixie_2 said:

Unless you rely on fast upload speeds for whatever reason, then surely you just need Virgin to match the lowest offer from CityFibre?victor2 said:

I don't particularly need fast upload speeds, but if the competition are offering that, Virgin should be cheaper, if they can't match it...JSmithy45AD said:

I cancelled virgin TV and internet in June and I have had nothing from them, no email no phone call no letter.
So much for cancelling and hoping for them to call with a better deal0
