@Fairplayguy That Sky price is likely to be their streaming service, so be careful with that.  I would ring Virgin tell them you are paying far too much and can’t afford to continue paying for that.  They will offer you a new price.  If you think that is still too high, tell them and then say I want to cancel.  They will either put you through to another department who may offer you a better price or process the cancellation there.  You then have 30 days till they cut you off.  You can change your mind or ring them back for a new price at any time in those 30 days.  Alternatively Virgin outbound retentions team may call you with a far better offer, like they did with me and many others.  That will be miles less than you are paying now.  Make sure in your my virgin media account your marketing preferences are set so they can contact you.  Good luck hope you get to a more reasonable price.

They may offer you their top package with an unlimited O2 SIM card, netflix with sky cinema and sports.  If you don’t need the SIM card, just stick it in a drawer, the price will still be lot cheaper than you pay (£70-85) now and you end up with more services.  Alternatively ask them for cheapest price for what you have now.  Broadband only can be had from £20 upwards dependent on speed via the outbound team.  That team can only contact you once you have put a cancellation in however
thanks PZ that's really interesting. What's the specific caution with Sky streaming service? Does it mean one can't record tv?

Correct, streaming only.  If you read the Sky thread and few others, people aren’t too happy with streaming.  You can’t record and can’t skip the ads unless you pay more

I can see that would be a right pain, especially with a borderline fast enough connection. It is so daft how   difficult it is to  work out what each provider offers in detail. e.g. I was looking to see how much the sky box recorder packages are but can't find plain language easy to find details.  All so ambiguous and obscure

I know there's a few providers that just do high speed internet as "their thing" but never in my area of Surrey. It's always " coming soon".

If you don't have Sky already then the Sky Q deals should show here:-

    https://www.sky.com/tv/sky-q

If you do have Sky then their cookies change the webpage display, just use a different browser.

Got the following "deal" 3 boxes UHD sports and cinema, 1 gig volt, landline NO TNT and Netflix standard for 83... I was paying 72 before and got TNT and Netflix premium... They really don't budge at all. Sky could so similar for 68 but 68meg ADSL as no open reach yet.

well I've just made the call to Virgin to cancel, got put through to what I presume where retentions, offered £110 for current package. I explained too much for what i use. Tried just getting broadband only but that was no cheaper than £60. Will get sky broadband only for about £27 and have pay-as-you- go tv services as i need them. Will await a callback from virgin media to see if they want to renegotiate.

Perhaps a hint of abuptness in the guy's voice and very keen to tell me the fines I'd get if i didn't return the two boxes by July 25th 2025.

Yo will get a call, make sure your preferences are set in your account so that they can call you.  Did the guy take your mobile number?  If so you should be fine.
