Had an email today via VM in relation to early renewal etc (contract up on the 1.May.2025)

currently paying £21.76 for M250 Broadband

Proposed offer is £25.46, going up April 25 to £28.96 followed by another April increase in 2026.

Thanks but NO thanks VM, I'll be giving 30 days notice early April
Just called VM about my contract (details above)
first offer, was the usual daft one expecting me to pay more when I'd already told them I have a better offer elsewhere.

Low and behold I get transferred, first offer was £21 a month for the same deal then the £3.50 increase from April 2026.

I've agreed to this, but might cancel yet as my other option was a straight £23 for 18 months

Please let me know who that other option was. How near the end of your contract were you?

I'm on M250 that went up to almost £28 in the April price increase. Just received an email saying renew, but the portal shows £34, and whilst a lot better than the £57 it's due to go to in July, wasn't sure when I call to haggle.

I was 30 days from contract end date (well 31 as they pointed out)

*Youfibre has now been installed in our area, as such I had the option to go with them for £23 a month (18 month contract with no price increase)

Not really a success more a reason to leave Virgin.

I am currently paying £57 a month, increased from £53 and when my contract ends it is increasing by £40 to £97 a month.

I just got a phone call from Virgin and the CS rep was willing to drop it to £70 a month for the next 18 months.

I told her that all I was wanting form Virgin was just the broadband and I can now get FTTP for £33 a month.

Let me see what I can do and she disappeared for a couple of minutes.

She comes back and the best she can do is £56.

I asked if she was kidding considering I could get 900 mbs FTTP for £33 and she hung up.

I have cancelled my virgin media broadband  and the cancellation fee is £27.

So instead of me waiting until the contract  ends and paying £114 for another 2 months I'm saving money :)

You should have switched in the last month of your contract so the new provider seamlessly takes over at the end, and not paid anything. Think it's up to 40 days from the end.

Yes but if I had waited until the last month I would have had to pay that months DD of £57 as you pay in arrears

I suspect that as fibre gets rolled out to more areas, VM customers will have something competitively priced to switch to AND with better performance. The annual (now 18 monthly) game of threatening to leave is tedious and irritating. As customers leave, maybe they'll take a different approach...

Just out of contract been with VM ( and previous) for 20+ years paying £45 for m350 and weekend evening calls but going up to £75, called for a better deal best they could was £68 !! Asked why new customer could get better deal etc, told them I wanted to make a formal complaint, finally got put through to complaints, they wouldn’t offer any better deal, as that was the best the had, I argued that they could give me a better deal and if they couldn’t someone higher would be able to ! No joy, finally said escalate my complaint to someone who cares about customer service, got a call back within the hours, offering same broadband + anytime calls for £40 better than new customer and saving if £38 a month, so it can be done you just have to stand your ground

Ours was up wife got thro to  virgin retention team and we managed to get a further 18months deal at the same price so happy with that, she offered an upgrade from the 2 boxes we had to to virgin mini 360 box and sent them out to us. I removed the upstairs one in the bedroom and installed the mini 360 box, big mistake lost all the recorded programs off the old box and this one doesnt even have a harddrive to record programs so absolutely no use to us, no mention of this by virgin before sending it out , then stupid me updates the box we have in our living room with the new remote they sent and lose all the current recordings i had on it ( my fault should have read instructions). Wife was back on to virgin today complaining, they are sending a technition out in a few days to revert us back to the original box we had but we have lost all our recordings on both boxes. Not very pleased strangest upgrade ive ever come across they can stick it where the sun doesnt shine😀
