Had our annual renewal offer email last week, three months before May renewal date

Mega TV, 1Gb BB, Sky Sports HD & UHD, TNT Sports, Cinema, NetFlix Standard, 2nd 360 Box, Anytime calls.

    Was £58pm, contracted price rises Apr 24 £60, Apr 25 £64. O2 mobile contracts separate x 2 £8 each.

Offered £70.04pm, and Hub 5 upgrade

Cheaper by some distance than the equivalent new customer deal, which is usually my negotiating red line.

After so many years, Virgin seeing some sense in proactive existing custom retention.

I didn’t hang about in accepting this in case it moves against me, as others have suggested can happen.

Maybe there could have been wriggle room and, don’t get me wrong, I usually take up loads of space sharing my usual strong negotiating discipline here. I just took the view that a) this was a fair offer and b) our contract is probably now at the higher end in terms of content so there would be little to negotiate in.

Also we are looking at a house move this year and we were concerned that somewhere we were looking at didn’t have Virgin access. Raised an enquiry and had a call back yesterday from an engineer and talked at length. Very reassuring, gave me his mobile and email to reach out to if I look at any others.

All round good noises from Virgin this year.
Wish I got a letter or Renewal in the VM Portal.

This is a great deal and one I will use as a benchmark during the inevitable to-and-fro with Web Chat.
Do they even do WhatsApp anymore? I preferred that. Much easier to play the waiting game!

Had an email today via VM in relation to early renewal etc (contract up on the 1.May.2025)

currently paying £21.76 for M250 Broadband

Proposed offer is £25.46, going up April 25 to £28.96 followed by another April increase in 2026.

Thanks but NO thanks VM, I'll be giving 30 days notice early April
To be fair that is not a bad price for BB. But yes you can possibly do better.
Can I ask if this is just for broadband?  I'm also with VM and was told today that if I wanted just broadband (I was thinking of dropping VM TV and going to Sky which is so much better) and they said broadband only would be £54 - and this was the retentions team.

Until you put your cancellation in, it’s highly unlikely that you will get a “decent” offer

Which generally comes from outbound retentions - ie they call you.

Last year I had an online renewal offer that I took up without going through outbound as was a v good deal but this time the renewal offer is distinctly underwhelming - more than double my current price - so looks like I’ll need to cancel and then wait for the call. Am currently at £43pm for 250bb, weekend calls, mega tv, tnt sports, sky sports sd…..anyone else recently got a deal via outbound for same or similar package?

I have M50 broadband (Volt M125) and Talk Weekend phone (which I don't use). Currently paying £16 going up to £17 in April. Renewal price in my online account was £27, awful really considering that's how I got my much better price last time. Inbound retentions on web chat offered £20 (increasing to £23.50 in April 2026) which seems reasonable against competitors so I took it.

My mega bundle contract with sports and 1GB broadband is coming to an end in a few weeks. I’m paying £82 going up to £87/month soon but the renewal offers are horrendous. I’ve been offered between £114-£142 to renew which I’ve refused. I think I’ll move to Sky instead but the offers are non existent even after telling them I can’t pay that.
  • I tried a lot and got down to £20 for M250 (that too volted up). With a price rise in Apr 26 so it works out £21.16/month effectively across 18 months.

Wanted a touch under £20 or a speed boost at that price but this will do as nothing else beats this price for me in my area.

Just called VM about my contract (details above)
first offer, was the usual daft one expecting me to pay more when I'd already told them I have a better offer elsewhere.

Low and behold I get transferred, first offer was £21 a month for the same deal then the £3.50 increase from April 2026.

I've agreed to this, but might cancel yet as my other option was a straight £23 for 18 months
