I'm on their chat right now trying to reduce my £52.22pm for M250, Mega TV and Anytime Chatter - my contract ends on 3 March.

Their agent just offered to raise it to £73pm - my automatic on-line offer is £54.83pm.

I am a VM user.  It's very difficult to compare packages, as you are aware with VM there is no menu of items.  However, I think you have a decent offer.  Typically VM try to price gouge you on renewal.  I have 1g broadband, Sky sports and movies and TNT, and I pay quite a bit it more.

    Kind Regards,

    Bill

Does anyone else have this package and a rough idea of what we should aim for by giving notice and getting a call-back? The retired father-in-law's contract is up for renewal soon, he pays £34/month at the moment, it will double when it ends in March without action and they finally offered to renew for the same price but with the £3.50 increase each April, it's getting expensive for him for quite a basic package.

    Package:
    MixIt TV
    M50 broadband
    Weekend Chatter (not really used)

Also their customer service on chat just DO NOT LISTEN! Despite asking for a way of reducing the payments, they just kept sending pre-written text with upgrades for like £50-100.

    Thanks!

Thank you. I'm thinking it's not an unreasonable price.

Think that is a very good price. I'm on Sky Sports HD, Mega TV, M250 and TNT for £65 and my contract is up for renewal shortly. My online renewal price kept changing daily, anything from £77 at its lowest, up to £82! Rang up customer service and the best they could do was £96. Was not happy!

Someone posted a helpful tip on the previous page and explained my predicament and got offered £71.50 for the same services. Reckon I could have got them down a bit more, but the guy was really helpful and I wasn't sure it was worth the aggro to haggle more.

Can't fault Virgin services but their way of operating, grates me. The online renewal deals look to be fairly competitve, but my price was chaging every couple of days before it dropped after I complained. So not sure how the algorithm are working those out, but one to watch if you're out of contract soon and not to panic i.

Following on from my previous posts - best I could get for M125 was £19 from the 6947 number, going up by £3.50 in April. Hub 5 (they insisted on this) and crediting my account to cancel out the increased last two bills which were raised during the 30 day cancellation period. I'm wondering if this is the best I'm gonna get for M125? They still do M50, but it's more expensive.

Spoke on chat today and told them I was off to sky.  Took ages to offer me contract for more than I am paying now.  I said ha ha no thanks.  Then they offered me to stay on same package for £34.92 but when contract came through it was £49.25 I guess they thought I would not read it!!! (MSE members know better).  Chat still on told them it was wrong then after long pauses said "OH sorry I put the wrong price"  Sneaky B....... I told them to put in 30 days notice.  Told they had other offer for me to look at so told them it was the £34.92 or nothing.  So now in 30 days notice!

Call the number above. Especially if you have a recorded phone call of them offering a price. Even if it was an error, you'd be able to get a better deal.

It was on chat and I have print of it.  I ask them on chat to confirm the 34.92 and they did. But it was only when contract came through that higher price was on.

Register a complaint and call the line above that a few people have said. I reckon you'd be able to negotiate a good deal. Maybe not at that price, but not too far away from it. They might have made an error, but if you have proof, you can use that if there's an audit trail.
