My dad contract coming to end soon, he got online offer to renew at exactly same price as he has been paying which I thought was pretty good, so get doesn’t have to go through the usual rigmarole of cancelling and waiting for callback.  My mate is paying £17.40 for 125 BB with volt up to 250, that runs out in Feb.  His online offer is £18.27 which isn’t too bad either
Where did the online offer come from? Is it a link they send?
Its in your virgin media account, you will see a link to your bills, contract and offers.

The offer they gave me was like for like but I know that it doesnt include TNT sports anymore so thats why I want the full cancellation route this time.
My dads was like for like which definitely included TNT
  • So my contract finishes on 7th Feb 2025. I currently have Mix TV with 360 box, M125 BB, Phone (Weekend chatter only). I called several times and did the dance with sales then retention's. It’s getting harder to get through every year and I nearly lost patience altogether. But stuck with it and after their best offer for the above package was £53.75 I decided to give them cancellation notice 30 days and wait for callbacks. Good job I found this forum, as I’d forgotten I’d disabled Marketing and contact options, also I’d left my landline (which is pulled out) as the main contact number!

All changed now so they can get in touch. Just feeling twitchy though as I’ve never had to resort to this method before. The final cancellation date is on 14th Feb.

Is that price too much? Any other thoughts. I rang Sky and they offered 74mb BB with Q-Box and Ultimate TV, and Netflix for £40 per month for 24 months.

I’ve just got off the phone with them. Don’t worry about waiting around you can call them yourself. There is a landline number posted that puts you straight to retentions. No queuing! Just say you missed a call from them.

I got volt 250 for £19 a month. It’ll go up £3.50 in April. But also got them to send me a hub5 to go with it. The hub 3 and 4 use puma chipsets and often get lag spikes. Hub 5 has a Broadcom chipset which is supposed to be much better. I don’t think I can post the landline number on here but it ends 6947. Google virgin media retentions 6947 and you’ll see a Reddit post with it on.

    Well, that elicited a response!

I phoned the 6947 number, the call was answered, but there was silence, so I hung up. Seconds later, a barrage of calls, and them continuing to come in whilst I was answering the initial call!

They offered me M125 for £19.50, which I didn't take up, but said I would think about. Given I didn't receive a call from outbound after I cancelled, I was / am ready to move over to mobile broadband. What does Volt 250 give you?

It’s the 125mb speed except when you have a SIM card with o2 you get double data on the o2 sim and double download speed on broadband. So I’m paying for 125mb but getting 250mb. It’s a benefit they offer to encourage you to sign up to o2. They might get their deals updated daily so worth a call tomorrow to see if it’s changed.

@JamesN Thanks, so do you pay an additional amount for the SIM?

Yes you have two contracts - one with O2 and another with Virgin Media, billed separately. As a result you can cancel the O2 sim within the cooling off period and still keep the Volt speed upgrade (there are much better deals around for sims).

Just renegotiated my new 18 month contract with VM......existing product set:

Maxit TV including TNT Sports (old contract was started before TNT was removed from Maxit)
    Sky Sports HD
    Sky Cinema HD
    Netflix Standard

    1GB Broadband

    Talk Unlimited Landline

    2nd (Mini) box

I managed 18 months ago to get this for around £60.......it was going to be going up to £145+

When I first spoke to them via chat and they offered the same at £120......left it a day and phoned up - spoke to Retentions - must have been offshore as it was extremely noisy background. The lady there offered like for like at £105, again I said I was not happy with that. She then put me onto onshore Retentions, where the team member reviewed everything and with discounts etc available to her managed to get it down to £80. This I have agreed to, which I am happy with.......

So i phoned them on the ...6947 number and got a very friendly chap who gave me a good deal.
He swapped Mixit TV to Mega TV, He doubled M125 to M250 Broadband, and kept the Phone at Weekend chatter only. The total cost was £34.00 per month for an 18 month contract. Going up in April by £3.50.
He cancelled the 30 days cancellation and got a credit on my current bill as the new one starts imminently.
Thanks JamesN for the great advice, i was begining to crack up!

Our contract is up in about three weeks and just trying to get a feel for what is and isn't a good deal.

Currently have M250, Maxit TV with TNT and weekend chatter costing £47.87.

The deal on my account is to continue this package at the same price rising to £51.37 April 25 and £54.87 April 26.

I'm not unhappy with the offer but just want a bit of a reality check if anyone has a target price.
