CDes said:The Virgin Media website let me re-contract at my current price £15 for the cheapest broadband (which with Volt gives me M125). This is still subject to the inflation-busting price increases in April 2024 and April 2025 so by the end of the contract it will probably be looking more attractive to switch away.On the phone the overseas retentions were all over the place offering me £41 and £25 for the same!0

Maybe you are not close enough to the end of your contract? Mine was running out at the start of December and I had received the reminder email from Virgin about it.

I spoke to Virgin Media just now and they are now offering me phone line (w/e calls) + i1gig for £58 (supposedly £19 for phone line) although she said someone may call back. On the other hand Vodafone are offering 1gig for £33 with a free phone line should I want it. So Virgin are now trying to charge me almost twice that Vodafone have offered! 🤣🤣
My internet was due to be transferred over on 9th November but is now delayed by 1 week due to a logistical issue with Vodafone and they have offered me unlimited 5g data that I can also use for tethering for a month if my Virgin media account is disconnected before the 15th November.0 -
The Retention team called me again today and reduced their offer slightly (down to £25 a month for M250). I still refused as other customers had been offered better deals and I've signed up with someone else now.Seems completely random on what deals they offer at any time and someone from the Retention team last week mentioned that any offers he made would not be available after the call ended - isn't that a high pressure sales technique?I've still got an outstanding Ofcom complaint against Virgin and seeking compensation due to loss of service so possibly Virgin don't want me to renew my contract anyway. I'm guessing they will "forget" about the compensation claim once I'm no longer one of their customers.

My current contract was due to expire in Jan24.
one of my discounts was set to expire Oct23.
I just stumbled on the option to renew my contract at the current rate of £20.
bearing in mind I have had several emails offering me to renew at £24.
I was more than happy with the £20 option for a further 18 months.
**Email to confirm me contract received earlier tonight as well0 -
My home phone and broadband contract with virgin media is due to end 6 Dec. I'm a pensioner I can't really afford the £63 pm (including £9 discount) I'm paying for Talk unlimited and M250 internet.these days (Used to be so much cheaper.)In the past I've rung retentions and got a good deal for the same package, without even saying I want to leave . But I get the impression (from what I've read here recently) that if I ring rentions, Virgin aren't likely to budge much on the price.I don't need fast internet as I only watch freeview TV, browse the internet on my desktop and don't use the phone very much at all these days (I have the anytime package --all UK mobiles and landlines mainly for peace of mind.. I'm wondering if down grading to slower internet and just having a basic weekend calls phone package would save much money. (Do I ring retentions to ask about this or is there a different department I should to talk to first to get an idea of what I might save?

You should then get a call from retentions within a day or so, with a better offer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
