Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Am going to be putting my 30 days notice in today- is it generally better to call or whatsapp or live chat to do so?0
-
Thanks- just phoned and got the same price that they told me last week on live chat would be my renewal price (which actually was as bad as expected but still more than I want to pay). So have put my cancellation notice in and await (hopefully) the call from their retention team.PZ19 said:

Weirdly about 5 mins after me calling them my internet appeared to disconnect- thankfully only a minor blip and back on now but landline still not connected!0 -
M250 FTTP Broadband
Home Phone with free weekend calls
18 month contract
£23pm
There was also some malarkey with an O2 SIM card, but I ended up cancelling that.0 -

I know it's a bit of a long shot but do you have any contact details of the person you spoke to at Virgin who offered you this deal please?

As per our discussion on PM, for the benefit of other readers - it was with the Retentions team, having followed the "I'm thinking of leaving" route on the VM website.grimsalve said:Cornucopia said:M250 FTTP Broadband

At the moment, it remains unclear what part of the package the O2 SIM card formed. Perhaps it is nothing and the BB contract stands as described.0 -
Decided to try my luck and cancelled on my last day of the cooling off period. Previous retention was £53pcm for Virgin 1GB broadband on its own.
Phone call this morning offering £30pcm for 1 gig.
Saved £23*18=£414 over the next 18 months. Result.0 -
After I gave notice to VM, I had a call from retentions who offered £45 for basic phone line & 1gig. At the moment I am planning to move to Vodafone for £33 per month. Wouldn’t go below £45. I told him no so the cancellation is still in effect. My termination date is 9 November 2023 with installation to Vodafone on the same day.. I might get a call from VM before then.Raichu said:Decided to try my luck and cancelled on my last day of the cooling off period. Previous retention was £53pcm for Virgin 1GB broadband on its own.

I spoke to the Retention team again yesterday, they still won't budge so I've signed up for a Zen/CityFibre connection instead.

I called up to cancel, currently paying £32/month for 350mb which was being put up to £63/month. They offered me £34/month which I declined and they cancelled my contract. Was expecting a haggle or to be transferred to a different department. Suppose I better go with someone else.0
