Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Current deal was about to expire and since I never use the TV as I find the interface tedious I dropped it completely.
Old package:
Ultimate volt
2 tv hubs
all channels + sports/movies/netflix
1gig
£75pcm
New Package:
1gig SOLUS
Hub 5 upgrade
£53pcm + £30 credit.
First offers were terrible, then was offered same package for £70pcm or broadband only for £67. I asked to cancel and then he budged to £53 for just broadband.

if virgin don’t give me £40 I may just move to Vodafone but for their 1gig base price of £33. I already have a 6e modem and good Wi-Fi 6 coverage (400mbit+) & can always get a data sim cheap if Vodafone go through some major upheaval.0 -
Renewal offer last month was £34 - Sent notice to cancel in response.Cancellation actioned a couple of days ago, and got offered £29.50 - Rejected without a second thought.Phone call this morning offering a speed upgrade from 125M to 132M for £23 (including phone). Still have that nasty RPI+3.9% mid-term price rise to contend with - Still debating whether to jump ship or not.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I'm on M125 + weekends phone (which I don't use) at £44 with a rise to £58 when contract ends next month.First haggling call took 45 mins with 4 people involved and went £44, £40, £57 (!), £40 and a promised call-back that never happened.Second call took 20 mins, one person, £40 lowest offer and disconnection has been arranged - email confirming arrived. If they don't budge this week, time to arrange a replacement. Looks like £25 is easily achievable from Shell etc.Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0

I'm fortunate that CityFibre have recently finished cabling my neighbourhood, so have a choice of suppliers offering similar speeds (not that I can use 125M, more like 20-30M tops).Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
