Got the letter saying the monthly price was going up by £21.50!! Went onto the live chat and was offered same package I have now for £85, decent saving compared to what I pay now but still declined. Seems like I’m well overpaying compared to others on here. Will wait for the inevitble phone call and see what they offer then.So got a call back today and was offered the same as above with higher M500 internet for £73.50 a month and no price increase.Accepted this, could’ve probably haggled more but was happy with the saving.0 -
Currently paying £26 a month for M100 BB only (but getting M125). 8 months into an 18 month contract.
VM asked for £7 extra from 1 May - 27%.
Called. Offered £3.50 extra for 6 months by the automated attendant.
Held for a real person. Offered £1.40 extra from 1 May for remainder of contract (8 months).
I'm happy with that.
Thanks everyone who has posted recently. It's really helpful to know what deals others are getting.

Well that's interesting. I've just an email from Virgin saying my new charge is £20.40 a month from today (7 March).
So it will be the agreed £27.40 from 1 May, but will only pay £18.16 in April.0 -
I've just had success of sorts, I wanted to push for more but who has the time. I did this all through WhatsApp so for sheer convenience I think I should be classing it as a win.
So my plan is the older Bigger Bundle (M125 BB - Volt brings it to M250, MaxIt TV, phone) which has been £45pm for several years due to the haggling each time around. The email informed me this was going to £60pm on 01/05/23. I have the guts of year left on that but who keeps track when you know you'll have to haggle/recontract at least once a year.
New customer Bigger Bundle has the M250 by default and is currently ~£40pm. If I had this, I think I'd be bumped to M500 BB due to Volt - we have O2 mobiles. This formed the core of what I pushed for but I failed, he/she/it was not budging.
I left with what I started with, exact same package, exact same price so in essence I'm saving £15pm for the sake of an elongated WhatsApp conversation.
I could have pushed on with the cancel and waited for a call but it's just effort and I know they're aware of that factor which is kind of annoying. I also felt a bit hamstrung by the fact that similar Sky and BT deals (but not as good) are £15-£30 more expensive - last month BT's plan was very competitive but some deals have finished, most notably BT Sport price cut and "up front" cost is no longer free.
Anyway, until next time. . . .0 -

Called and ignored the £4.50 automated discount and was quite surprised I got through to someone straightaway. Said I wasn't happy with the price increase and wanted to cancel. She put me on hold for about 15 minutes to see what she could do. Eventually she came back to say she could remove the price increase, (I thought great!), but my price would only increase by £2 a month now. The way she worded it it sounded like she'd done me a favour. I said no, on principle even just £2 a month increase wasn't good enough, I still have a full year left on my contract and I wasn't happy so I'll cancel. She went away again and low an behold came back to say there would be no price increases and everything on my contract would stay the same.
Unfortunately, she wouldn't give me a written confirmation or anything but said the calls were recorded. Will see come May!
Edit: Weirdly I did get an email about 2 hours later. It said my changes have been made and listed them all as "no changes", but it says my new monthly charge will be £23.50!! That's now £9 cheaper a month than I was paying! I don't quite believe it, but will see if it's true!0 -
I have:
- BB 125MB
- Mixit TV
- Phone (weekends - I dont use)
£29 a month rising to £38 a month.
I called and was going to leave but they did it for £20 a month for 2 months then sticking to the £29 for the remainder. I am out of contract next April so will look to leave then. Toob are in my area offering £25 for 900MB so might move to them then.0 -

For one I don't want my time taken up dealing with VM prices, why can’t they provide a simple 2 year fixed price contract. I have no issue with the VM service but the uncertainty of their contacts has forced me to look elsewhere.
The looking around has resulted in finding me a faster and lower cost provider, if I hadn’t been prompted to look I wouldn't have found them, so there is an upside to VM contract complexity and the upside is for ME.0 -
