    Hi

I just got my email today to tell me the price is going up by £7 on the May 1st.  Am i right in thinking that i can put my cancelation in on April 1st

    Thanks

I believe you have to put in the cancellation request within 30 days of receiving the e-mail (ie, from today).
  • Okay i just had a god read of the email and it say

If you're not happy with any of the changes announced in this email, including those to our out of home WiFi hotspots and pricing terms and conditions, you can change or cancel your package, any time before 4th April 2023, without paying any cancellation fees.

OK, they must have changed the wording from previous ones then.  If it says that, then that will be correct.  In that case your original suggestion of cancelling/changing on 1st April would be fine .
  • So i think i will leave it till April and then cancel it and see if they call back. I'm on 250meg speed and i pay £23 for it so the price rise would take it to £30 a month. In the past they had me over a barrel as the only other provider i could go with was BT but they were using the old copper wire so the speeds were slow. But two weeks ago Grain broadband put the cables in outside my house they are doing 500Mb for £24.99 and no price rises while in contract  you also get a free Wi-Fi extender. So any crap from VM and I'm off I'm getting sick of this with them
  • Mine worked out as a 28% increase. Phoned VM and the automated system offered me a £3.50 discount. Continued through to 1st level retentions, offered me a new 18 month contract at my current price with no price increase for 2023, so accepted.

What is the best number to call them on ? or is it just 150 on a Virgin phone

Just use 150 and go for the thinking of leaving option. Ignore the automated discount offer and go through to speak with someone.
  • to be honest Im okay with paying the £23 a month so if they left it at that i think i would stay. So i might leave it for now and call them in April and see what they offer

I remember accepted the automated system discount in previous years and as a result I lost my ongoing discounts.  It was a nightmare trying to get them added back on again.  Just be careful.
