alipali9 said:I am currently on M50 broadband only at £18 per month, (sufficient for my needs.) Been notified of the increase of £6 per month from 1st May. My contract and £20 discount finishes 26th July 23. Am I correct in thinking I will be paying £24 per month till then. I do realise if I try to negotiate a new deal now I will be starting a new 18 month contract. I was thinking of leaving the negotiations till the 26th of June. (That is of course if I cant be bothered to have the negotiating dance before the end of March.)
Any thoughts or advice welcome.
Call them, as I did (see my post above). I got a credit and no increase, and my contract is still on its original 18 months, also ending next July.

Thanks Victor I saw your post I will probably go with your advice, just wondered if there were other options. I was thinking of unlimited data sim deal with another company. Don't think my tech competence is up to it though.0

Not sure if this counts as a haggling success as I am leaving Virgin. I have been with them for years (probably about 20) although I dropped the tv package some time ago when I retired. Last month I had the email about the price increase from £56 to £64 and looking around realised I could get a similar package for £20-odd. It does involve a new connection as I have only had Virgin cable for phone/broadband but this means I am no longer tied to Virgin and can switch more easily in the future. When I cancelled they did offer to discount down to £49 but I went ahead and cancelled anyway. Today they have rung to offer me a new deal of £28/month (apparently because I am such a long-standing customer) but I am going ahead with the new provider.
I was actually going to move away from them a couple of years ago as I realised how tied down I was with just the cable provision but unfortunately illness, then the covid lockdowns took my mind off the matter. I'm not going to add up how much over the top I have paid for not acting sooner but put it down to experience.2 -

Volt M500 TV mix with Free BT Sports for 6 months and weekend phone.I got this for £59pm with no increases during the 18 month contract. It’s perhaps not the best but I’m happy with it and saving myself £38pm will do nicely.0 -

I called them (weekday morning - to get best chance of UK call centre) and my price has actually gone down by £3 a month. I was still in a contract too!0

Has anyone heard of virgin fixing contract prices? I’ve spoken to a few people who I know are with virgin and they have been offered fixed contracts in a response to the price increase when joining. If this is something new I’d be interested in it!0

Currently £106.50 for
Maxit TV
Skysports & Movies
M250 internet
Talk anytime
Got the letter saying the monthly price was going up by £21.50!! Went onto the live chat and was offered same package I have now for £85, decent saving compared to what I pay now but still declined. Seems like I’m well overpaying compared to others on here. Will wait for the inevitble phone call and see what they offer then.0
