10GB O2 sim*0
-
Posting my success with Virgin Media retentions today:
I was previously on...
• Gig1 Fibre
• Mixit TV
• Talk Weekends
• Virgin 5GB sim card
• Volt benefits with our x4 O2 sim cards elsewhere
I was paying £71 pcm for the above. 18 month contract came to an end in Sep 2022.
I called Virgin on 18th October. Spoke to first round of Retentions (foreign call centre) and they could save a maximum of £2 after a frustrating 20 min call. I declined and insisted on cancellation. I was then passed to someone in the UK. The lady said her discretion only allowed the same package to be brought down to around £65. I was offered some rolling 30-day contracts but nothing appealed. Again I declined and asked to cancel. They went through all the terms and emailed me cancellation info etc the same afternoon.
I then had an incoming call (the next day) on my mobile from 020 3743 6946. Very polite Scottish guy.
After a brief chat, I was able to get the following for £38 pcm (he did originally say £40 but I haggled another £2 off):
• Gig1 Fibre
• Mixit TV
• Talk Weekends
• Virgin 5GB sim card (they no longer provide this)
• Volt benefits with our x4 O2 sim cards elsewhere
So all in all a decent package, although I do lose the Virgin 5GB sim that we had for free on the last package.
They are also sending me a free upgraded Hub 5 and x1 booster. They said I could add x2 more boosters should they be needed in future. In the past, they have charged me for upgraded hubs/kit.
The deal starts right away, so I get a pro-rata credit on the current bill and it runs for 18 months again. The Virgin sim will cancel in 2 weeks and I have 2 week cooling off period should I change my mind again.
They could have also done these prices for a full TV-phone-broadband package:
• 350mb £28 (someone else posted they got this for £25)
• 500mb £34
• Gig1 £40 £38 (was quoted £40 at first)
Deffo ask for another £2-3 discount, as some others have had success, as I did today.
Hope this helps someone, as the previous posts did for me!

I spent most of the day on WhatsApp and got down to £63 from £74, I've not yet given notice but will do.0 -
Earlier I posted about my dealing with Virgin... "Third phone call to Virgin lasted nearly an hour. But was paying 29.99 a month for M100, mixit TV and talk weekends due to go up today to £66, Got it for £32 for the usual 18 months, so slight increase and perhaps I could have done slightly better but happy with that."
Well I noticed I was being charged £35 not £32 a month so rang again to sort it out. On the phone for 28mins, spoke to 3 people and now on £29 a month with money back for the two £35 payments I have made. Great result!

I was on the Ultimate Oomph Volt bundle which was £83.12 / month (including an extra '360 mini box') going up to £128.19, then £147.50. I rang 150 on my mobile and explained I wanted to leave as the increase was more than I could afford and I had also had a number of service issues. I was asked to explain what they were (occasional loss of internet / loss of Virgin TV channels / being forwarded a link for compensation which did not work when there was a previous issue with wifi etc). The very empathetic call operator confirmed an issue with my TV channels and then (given time but no haggling as such) offered me the same deal as I had before plus Netflix standard, plus a pod for the room where internet is poor (the pod is normally @ £8 / month I was told) - all for a reduced price of £73 / month. This took a couple of hours all in as I was put on hold a lot but I was very pleased with the result. Could I have got more? Maybe, but this worked for me. I'm also getting a couple of new remotes sent to me. The service problem on one box has self rectified. The problem on the other box is continuing but I have been promised a call back from a 'remote engineer'. Not happened yet but overall I am happy (so far!) and it was all very friendly and civilised.

Just gone through the cancellation process with VM. Old deal was £32 for 200MB, phone (never use) & basic TV with a documentaries package (seldom use & happy to lose). Going up to £71.
WhatsApp offer was same package for £34no movement, so cancellation has been initiated. I'm ready to switch to Vodafone 500MB FTTP at £25 when the £120 voucher is taken into account. Even with 2 CPI increases on the contract that's good.
It will be interesting to see what VM Tier 2 will come up with, I'm sensing a good deal.

Was getting M125, Phone and Basic TV. Got upgrade to M250, Phone and Basic TV for £22/month on a 18 month contract.1 -
This started with me idly wondering how much I'd pay without Sky channels, to going into cancellation process and making the rookie mistake of actually signing up with BT . Annoys me that you have to go through all these hoops but pretty delighted with results. (Was paying £57 , best offer pre cancellation £51 a month no package changes)0
