Please can clarify what Openreach FTTP and its relation to Virgin?
    Thank you.
    https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/fttp-providers
They aren't related. Openreach provide and maintain what was BT infrastructure, which is consumers can get from a variety of suppliers including BT. I was going to go with Vodafone if I didn't get a deal with Virgin.

FTTP means fibre to the premises, so no old copper is used. Openreach are going full tilt enabling this. If you have overhead wires you'll see new boxes appearing on the poles that are fibre nodes. If you have underground wires you'll probably see a lot of activity in the manholes doing the same thing.
  • Thanks for everyone's updates here. My Broadband 125MB/s was going up to £55 from £29 this month, so for the first time in 18 months I needed to negotiate.
I got the link for the Whatsapp contact and went through the "Please cancel" x6 until it was effected. The following day I was given what I asked for - 125MB/s Broadband for £22 pm. The contract came through for £27 pm and I rang the retentions number.

I was offered £23 for 250MB/s Broadband, Streambox and VOLT package with 6GB sim. I accepted it of course and received the correct contract £17 for Virginmedia, £6 for O2.
  • Currently I pay £51 a month for the following from Virgin...

    M250 Fibre Broadband
    Mix TV with V6 Box
    Talk Weekends
    Line Rental

From looking at this thread, I'm aware many are paying considerably less than me, and I will be contacting Virgin to terminate my contract with them when my contract is due for renewal.
However, I had a look at this website which keeps coming up on my Facebook account

    https://www.ismybillfair.com/

Having entered my Virgin account details, the website tells me the price I should be paying is £54, and Virgin would not offer me a better deal than I'm already paying.
This certainly flies in the face of the deals I'm seeing some get on here.

No 360 box sadly (I did ask but not possible with that deal supposedly)
I only got a 360 remote sent to me. Did a whole WhatsApp conversation to get a box sent.
Imagine my surprise tonight when the old TIVO box had turned itself into a 360 box, prompting me to pair the new remote.

My bill has just gone up to £73pm, just got off the phone now and got this new customer package for £33.50 (it's the same package as I have now). The call took 1hr and 2 mins and I had to speak to two different depts, wasn't until I got to disconnections that they really started to play ball, previously the best they said that they could do was £54pm. Really chuffed that I am now paying £11pm less than I was on the old deal.

  • Quick query from the experts on here - I haggled for a new deal - and have been put on the Volt Package. (total £87)
I've been told I'm getting a new additional mini 360 box - but I don't really want Virgin in another room - is it ok for me to refuse this - they've already arranged an engineer visit - is it just a case of phoning 150 and cancelling? (Whatsapp and Live Chat are really not helping) - secondly, and I'm sure this is an age old query - I'm now paying £25 per month for a sim card with unlimited everything - am I able to downgrade to a cheaper Sim card without jeopardising the deal for the whole package? I know the t&c might suggest that you can't but just wondered what actual people on here had found. Thanks

If you're still in the cooling off period (14 days?) Then you should be able to cancel without charge. If not, you're probably stuck with whatever you've agreed to.

If you had put in your cancellationyou would have got a retentions call back for even cheaper than that, but like you say you are happy that you are paying less than before so it’s definitely a win.  The £54 that they quoted for that is daylight robbery.

We (I say we, it was my Fiancé that did the haggling!)

Our contract with Virgin was up on the 26th December, we started renegotiating yesterday. They were offering our current deal (500Mb internet + TV with BT Sport) at £77 despite us currently paying £55 and the new customer offer was £55. My partner started a conversation and he asked about adding Sky Sports which ended up coming to £101 per month!

We tried for ages but there was no budging so we decided to continue with the cancellation.

Today he gets a phone call from Virgins retention team (they actually called twice) to say they could get our current deal down to £51, he asked about adding Sky Sports and ended up paying £67 altogether! Done Deal!

Don't be afraid to walk walk away! It took them less than 24 hours to call us back and offer us a much better deal!

Will bear that in mind for next time, I may have got carried away with sheer joy at the thought of only paying £33.50 for a year and a half. I celebrated by turning the heating on!
