Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Forgot my 18m M50 (M100 volt) Talk Weekends £17/m contract was nearing its end (12 Oct) until I saw my latest bill today with additional discount-free charges. Called up, stressed I couldn't afford a price increase and would have to leave at the end of my contract, but the best I was offered was £28/m, so declined and said I'd give my 30 days notice next week. Tried their terrible online chat which turned into a WhatsApp chat and was then offer the even higher £34/m, declined and said I'd be leaving and they told me someone from retentions would continue the chat - retentions then offered me £28/m after a load of faux matey salesy BS, so declined again and left it there.
Will definitely call up with the 30 days notice (next Tue, 13 Sep, as I was informed), but is it worth calling back and trying my luck again before then, or trying that 0203 number before then? Do some of their reps have bigger discounting power, as MSE's Virgin Media haggling advice page indicates?0 -
I was part way through my contract so the other day I wanted to drop the TV (was on the ultimate volt bundle £80 a month but never used Netflix, cinema or the kids package and barely used the second box) and use BB and landline only so got through to retentions via WhatsApp who couldn’t do anything for the price and I was happy to pay the early disconnection fee which was £96 so a disconnection was placed then yesterday had a call from 020 3743 6950 which turned out to be outbound retentions asked them to call me back later that evening but no call ever came however I rang that number this evening and spoke to a lovely Scottish lady and had a good long chat about what I used and didn’t use and she offered me
Maxit TV
sky sports SD
M200
Talk weekends
£53.12 for 18 months
Or
Maxit TV
sky sports HD
M200
Talk weekends
£60.12 for 18 months
if I wanted the second box it was an extra £10 so that would be £63.12 or £70.12 respectively
comparing that to the current new customer deal they are offering
Maxit TV
Sky sports SD
M500 (which is not something i need as I live alone)
talk weekends £65 a month
£72 a month with sports HD
(additional £10 a month for the second box if needed)
£200 bill credit which effectively would take off roughly £11.00 a month making it £54 a month or £61 a month respectively
I Think i got a good deal out of it in the end would like to know anyone else’s thoughts on it I did try really hard for the agent to include the sports HD for the £53.12 offer but she didn’t budge so gladly accepted the £60.12 offer going forward still undecided whether or not I want the second tv box in the bedroom for when autumn and winter hit us!

Currently paying 29.99 a month for M100, mixit TV and talk weekends.
Goes up to £66 on 20/09/2022.
I called them this evening and immediately got offered same for £44.
Will wait a bit and call again to cancel and see what transpires.0 -
Was paying £60 a month for Gig1 broadband (was an initial 6 months free, then 12 months full price on 18month contract - worked out at £40 a month + quidco cashback)
Have managed to secure another 18 months now at £36 a month.
Hope that helps someone!0 -

Retentions called me yesterday morning (from 020 3743 6950), less than 24 hours after my 30 days notice, and my £17/m M50 (=M100 volt benefit) Talk Weekends contract, ending next month, is now renewed at £14/m for 18m, which, as I know very well from darts, is an overall saving of £54.

I'm following this topic thread with much interest, since when my current contract expires, I will be taking the earliest opportunity to cancel my Virgin services, to see whether they respond by offering me a deal I will be happy with.
My present contract comprises -
Mix TV
V6 Box
M200 Fibre Broadband
Telephone Line Rental (Talk Weekends)
I currently pay £51 per month for these, but have read that others appear to have negotiated much better deals than mine, after threatening to leave.
One point though - I notice members have posted different telephone numbers which appear to relate to Virgin and I'm assuming their retention team(s). For example...
02037436946
02037436947
02037436950, etc.
Are these much of a muchness, or would members favor one over another?
Thank you.0 -

I posted a successful haggle last week but changed my mind on the deal and didn’t want to be tied into an 18 month contract for the TV seeing as they are offering the stream service with very competitive prices for a 30 day rolling contract so placed disconnection yesterday in my cooling off period and lo and behold I get 2 calls today.
First Lady didn’t seem bothered enough to convince me to stay at all but couple of hours later a lovely Scottish guy phoned soon as I picked up I was set to refuse whatever he had to say however seeing how well he came across and genuinely wanted to help to see what he could offer me I thought I’d give him an opportunity to do so advised him I didn’t want to commit to a tv contract but willing to see what BB only he could offer and straight off the bat offered me M350 £28 or M200 £25 then discussed the stream option which he filled in the form for them to contact me to arrange set up.
What he then did to my surprise out of the blue was say he’d go and speak to his manager to try and get me an extra discount as I spoke to him in a nice way and didn’t shout at him (sounded like he must of been having a bad day call wise) he came back after putting me on hold and said his manager authorised an extra £3 discount so agreed to M350 for £25 a month with the stream box thrown in.
One of the best interactions I’ve had with any virgin staff member the agent was top class and the main thing was he listened to my needs and offered an appropriate package accordingly.1 -
Third phone call to Virgin lasted nearly an hour. But was paying 29.99 a month for M100, mixit TV and talk weekends due to go up today to £66, Got it for £32 for the usual 18 months, so slight increase and perhaps I could have done slightly better but happy with that.1
