Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

Was paying £65 per month for M100 broadband, Talk anytime and Mixit TV. Called the usual number several times (including texting/WhatsApp) and asked for TV to be removed and phone downgraded to Talk Weekends, as we only watch Freeview channels and only use the landline for incoming calls. Best they could offer was £42. I then gave 30 days notice of cancellation.Rather than wait for retensions to call me with an offer I decided to short-circuit things and called them directly on 02037436947. I explained that I had given 30 days notice to cancel my contract as I thought I was paying way too much and wasn't happy with the deals they'd offered. They were very helpful. It's worth asking questions like, "what would the deal be if you increased my broadband speed?" - as oddly this can work out cheaper, especially if you are dropping some other service - I was moving from Talk Anytime to Talk Weekends on the landline.I eventually signed for 18 months at £25 per month taking M200 broadband, Talk weekends and Mixit TV - and they are sending a TV 360 box free-of-charge to replace my ageing Tivo. Was very happy to save £480 per year and double my broadband speed...1

I'm 2 weeks into my cancellation period for M100/talk weekends - I've done this dance with Virgin for what seems like forever, so this time I'm a bit surprised not to have had a callback yet (yes marketing is enabled).
I know newbies can get my package for an effective £17.40 now including bill credit but I wasn't getting offered better than £26. I'll give it another week then maybe try the number mentioned a bit earlier in this thread.

Called and secured an upgrade to M200 + talk weekends for £18/month. Very happy with that, thank you.
By the way, small typo in the number - the one to call is 0203 743 69472 -

By the way, small typo in the number - the one to call is 0203 743 6947I'm now starting to wonder if I've left something on the table and could have got it even cheaper - but in the 15 years I've been with them, I don't think I've ever got it below £20 (and with a speed upgrade thrown in to boot). So really can't complain.
Will be Sky's turn next June, see if I can improve on what I'm currently paying them once the contract ends!0 -
Ultimate volt for £69pm 18 months.£44 for gig1 2x v6 boxes. Sky sports, sky movies, maxit tv , talk more anytime & Netflix. £25 for unlimited o2 sim. Previously on ultimate oomph for £79pm. Always had new customer price or better. Left once in last 15 years when didn’t get a new customer offer. Came back after a year of cheap sky. Currently getting a bill credit for Netflix as not activated properly so ~£33pm0

I was on 200mbps BB, Maxit TV with two TIVO boxes, call weekends phone line and a 15GB virgin SIM for £65 per month. The contract was coming to an end and I got notified that my bill was going up to a ridiculous £102 per month.
Called the "thinking of leaving us" extension and got put through to someone in India who offered to drop it to £77 per month if I took out a new 18 month contract. Told them no then they dropped to £71 per month. Still said no and asked to give my 30 days notice.
They then transferred me to retentions who offered the following which I thought was reasonable and accepted:
VOLT 200mbps BB
Maxit TV
Two TIVO boxes
Landline with call weekends
Up to three VM pods
O2 SIM card - 6GB which doubles through VOLT to 12GB.
£57 per month for 18 months (£51 to VIRGIN, £6 to O2). 18 month contract.
Maybe could have got it down further if I'd actually given the 30 days notice, but compared to what I had been paying previously, it's £8 a month cheaper for essentially the same services, so I didn't see the point of being greedy.0 -
My promotions end in 2 weeks.
Paying £40.25 for
350mb bb
Talk more anytime.
Straight away offered same bb but talk weekends for £40 for 18 months. Declined.
Carried on with cancellation. Lets see what they offer now

Just had my retention call back after cancelling 1 week ago. Totally threw me by offering me a great deal straight out the gate! I was on M200 at £30 pm rising to £56 when out of contract. Offered me same speed for £24 pm (18month contract). Asked how much it’d be to increase speed and he said £6 for each package upgrade. Opted for M350 for an extra £6 and when he put it on the increase also halved so ended up at £26 with the speed increase! 5 mins total on the phone 😁1
