Did you have to haggle to get that offer?

I would have been happy to have gone up to £80 at a push, but the people I've spoken to wouldn't budge below £95... If I had dropped the sports package, it would have been £84 - which made me think they were just plucking numbers from anywhere.

I get they need to squeeze money out of you where they can, but surely retaining a customer is better than loosing one.
Have you put in your cancellation or not?  This was me haggling after putting my cancellation in and them ringing me a few times after a day or two of the cancellation.
I put my cancellation in on April 18th, after the initial chat with retentions.

The whole experience has gone against the grain because the retentions lady that I haggled with did the cancellation almost straight away rather than passing me on to someone else when I politely rejected her offer (thinking a better one was forthcoming)

I've not even had a phone call from them since giving my 30 day notice. After 3 weeks of waiting for the phone to ring, I tried my luck with the WhatsApp chat today as people have said its more straight forward to get a good deal with, but that was just as unhelpful.

Sounds like maybe they are now happy to let people go, bear in mind I guess a lot of people just accept new terms offered without trying to haggle?
Maybe not... Sky ring up this morning and offer me a sky q tv/sport package for £38 pm. I said I'd think about it as I needed to make sure I could still have decent internet speed as their best was 25-30mbs where I live.

I thought I'd give Virgin one last ring to see if they could offer me anything for just broadband. I was initially offered the M500 for £56, and then M350 for £50. I asked if there we we any other deals and was offered the ultimate bundle deal with an extra box for £74.

Just £2 more than what I'm currently paying and loads less than retentions had been offering. Pretty chuffed with that in the end.

Been a week so far and no call. Is it worth starting the process to move to another network? At least that way VM will get the notification that i'm moving and maybe call. Got just over 2 weeks before my services cancel.

This has worked for me before. Started a transfer to BT. Next day Virgin phone with good offer to stay. Cancelled move to BT.

I got my contract down from £57 to £14 for 50MB + any time calls.
I was planning on just leaving Virgin and I'd already asked them to port my number out.

Spoke to retentions today who offered ultimate volt for £105...... £80 to virgin (M600, unlimited landline, maxit tv sports and cinema HD with a mini box plus netflix) and £25 to o2 unlimited sim.... taking into account i pay vodafone for an unlimited sim it made sense to migrate that over to o2. Ive seen people mention that they have cancelled the o2 sim and it hasnt effected the virgin package or price is this still the case?? as i feel i may have etcs with vodafone
    I was told:
The sim Is separate bill Gareth you can contact our O2 team for your sim.
I checked my Virgin Bill over the last 18 months (Unlimited) and I've never used more than 16GB in one month.

So I ordered a £8 20GB o2 Sim separately. Which gives me 3 months Disney, o2 Priority to reduce £8 to £6 AND Volt upgrade so double data (40GB) and next speed up on Broadband (Gig).

    Cheers,
    Garf
    Thanks for the advice Garf

Contacted o2 and advised them of the uswitch deal of 20gb for £8 and they gave me that without hesitation for 12months so now i will pay virgin and o2 £88 combined (£80 to virgin for the ultimate volt and £8 to o2) very happy with that considering the o2 sim will hardly be used alongside my vodafone sim until that contract is up in a few months then i'll migrate the number over from vodafone to o2.

Doesn't the migration need to be done within 30 days?

Well....all ready to fall off the merry-go-round, this Saturday :) .   Have my TP-Link AC750 (smarty unlimited 30 day rolling) and Humax Aura 2TB set to fire up!   TP-Link intentional measure as a stop-gap until I finally decide who were going with (will likely need Openreach to come out too anyway).

Do Virgin send you a box/bag to send the equipment back, and if so when ...or do I just parcel it up on Saturday myself ?

I did exactly this just over a year ago and my TP-Link has been fine for what I need. I like the fact I can take it away with me too. Virgin should send you a bag to send your router and leads back, that's what they did with me.

    Hi all,

I always played the "cancellation / retention call" game with Virgin, so I've always had a good deal with them. I only have broadband with them. I was paying £20 for the M200 package until early on this year when everyone was increasing prices for everything, and so Virgin increased my package to £23.50 a month.

I gave my 30 day notice cancellation on the 24th of April, as my Virgin broadband contract ends on 24th of May. They confirmed the cancellation to me, and then I was waiting for their call, as it's a yearly ritual by now. Except no one ever called.

I got an email from them on the 2nd of May, saying:

"Thanks for letting us know you’re going to be leaving us. We’ve loved having you with us, and will be sad to see you go.

If you want to talk about your options with us, please give us a ring on 0330 303 5301 and let’s see if there’s anything we can do for you to stay."

However when I ring that number, all I get is a message saying "Virgin tried to call you, you don't have to call back because we will try again" and the line dies. However, they never do actually ring me. Have they finally had enough of me? :D

They never sent the package to send back the equipment, but also never called me to offer me to stay, which is very confusing seeing how my contract ends in about 10 days. Anyone had any similar experience recently?

Also, anyone else on just the M200 package who can share what the price they pay is? I am happy with Virgin, and would stay with them on the current price, but they want to jack it up to £50 per month, which I am just not going to do.

    Thanks in advance everyone!
