Hi Folks,
My Contract is up for renewal currently paying £76.50 which will be going up to over £110+VM 500mb broadbandMaxit TV Package (No Sports or Movies)2x VM Boxes5gb Virgin Media Sim Only ContractI have been offered the above for £70 p/m on a 18 month contract, Virgin will be calling me back on Friday to confirm if I want to go ahead. I can't really seem to find a better deal:Sky are offering me:Sky FTTP 500mb2 Sky Q BoxesSky Mobile£81 a month0 -
My usual routine at renewal just completed.
First, I make a point of calling at least 1 month before the end of the deal, that way they don’t compare their offers to the price after the deal (£124 or whatever). Instead on their screen they can see what I am paying now.
First call is just to suss out the opening offer, take a long as they like to play around with packages, then I end the call telling them I will think about it.
Second call I give notice. It is much easier to do this by saying you spent a lot of time on the first call comparing figures so don’t really want to go through it again. Interesting, what happened on that call this time is I got offered an “on the call only” loyalty offer, but I still intended to cancel.
Up shot is this.
Package Maxit TV, 200MB, Talk Weekends, Sky Sports HD,
Currently £60pm
First call offer £86pm
Second call “on the call offer” £76pm
Outbound Call first and last offer. £64pm
After giving notice, outbound retentions tried the home number 3 times in the following 24 hours, I finally caught them calling the next day and we agreed on £64pm.
I’m reasonably content. I did make him ring back twice more but he really wasn’t going any lower, though still missed the opportunity to get a SIM negotiated in I am sure!

Most they could offer is £55 a month:
200 MB Broadband
Maxit TV
Weekend calls
They wouldn't budge.
To reduce the TV it would be be £64 and to just have BB was £50 - and that was the best they could do with any discounts.
Utterly random prices to what I have seen on here.0 -
It's my 30 days to contract end today so joined the retentions rollercoaster ride
I currently have Maxit, M200 and evening and weekend calls for £62/month
However, no need for TV any more as I've switched over to using IPTV for £12/month so I just wanted broadband.
Seasoned retainers here will know how lucky I was not only to get through in less than a minute but also to find myself talking to the Scottish call centre who seem to be able to get stuff done.
I asked the price for just broadband (plus an unused phone line of course) and he blew me away with his first attempt...- M200 - £24/month
- M50 - £14/month
- M100 - £24/month
- M350 - £26/month
- M500 - £34/month
Anyway, I'm sure everyone is now going to tell me I could have got that for half the price but I'm happy - speak again in 18 months guys!2 -
Got my 200mb broadband renewed for £24 (same as currently paying) by using the WhatsApp chat feature.
Price was originally for 100mb, but boosted to 200 after Volt was launched.
I was originally offered TV and talk weekend packages I don't need (don't even have a phone line), but once I got to the 2nd team (cust relations?) they quickly matched my current price.
I could have cancelled and pushed for more, but was feeling lazy and already have all the sky agro to go through so just went for it.0 -
Is there a way to guarantee getting through to the UK call centre? Seems hit and miss whether I end up with the offshore one or the UK one0

Was paying £34.44 a month for M100 Fibre + the basic TV package and (VOIP) "landline"
(I don't watch TV and rarely use the "landline". A have a free VOIP number from Sipgate.)
Price went up to £38.44 in March.
Contract ends 17 June. New price £50.44.
Contacted them by chat, which then moved to WhatsApp
Three and half hours later (!!), they offered me M100 Fibre with no TV and no "landline" for £26 a month, 18 month contract, which I have accepted. Lots of attempted upselling along the way, but as it was all done in WhatsApp I was able to get on with other stuff. It helped that I had a quote for £27 from EE, and I copied and pasted the EE Quote into the WhatsApp conversation.

I was on the ultimate volt deal. After giving my notice in I mangaged to get the following offer.
£52 (TV/Landline/Broadband) + £25 (SIM) pm - £77 per month 18 month deal.
- Full TV with Sky Sports and Sky Cinema
- 18 Month free Netflix
- Additional TV Box
- 1 Gig Fibre Broadband plus 2 Wifi Pods
- Unlimited Anytime landline
- Unlimited Calls, Data and Texts O2 Sim (£25 per month but required)
All in all in the current climate of price rises I'm happy with this.
The biggest challenge was the SIM contract - previously it was with Virgin but as O2 and Virgin have merged it was more challenging to get this included with the discount.
Myself and the wife work from home - don't use Sky Sports etc but it worked out cheaper to go for the full works to get the decent broadband etc.
I gave my inital notice and rejected 2 offers. I rang myself, spoke to the disconnections team. They said the best they could do was £64 per month + £25 for the SIM.
However he passed my number onto their outbound team. A brilliant lady rang me up and offered me the deal above today.

After being on the WhatsApp chat for about 5 hours(!) I went from my current deal of £23.25 for M100 to £25 for M200 for 18 months.
They were pushing £28 for M100 for most of it so I took this as life is too short to be on these calls all day and there's only 10 days until renewal of the contract.1
