mro85 said:I was on the ultimate volt deal. After giving my notice in I mangaged to get the following offer.
£52 (TV/Landline/Broadband) + £25 (SIM) pm - £77 per month 18 month deal.
- Full TV with Sky Sports and Sky Cinema
- 18 Month free Netflix
- Additional TV Box
- 1 Gig Fibre Broadband plus 2 Wifi Pods
- Unlimited Anytime landline
- Unlimited Calls, Data and Texts O2 Sim (£25 per month but required)
All in all in the current climate of price rises I'm happy with this.
The biggest challenge was the SIM contract - previously it was with Virgin but as O2 and Virgin have merged it was more challenging to get this included with the discount.
Myself and the wife work from home - don't use Sky Sports etc but it worked out cheaper to go for the full works to get the decent broadband etc.
I gave my inital notice and rejected 2 offers. I rang myself, spoke to the disconnections team. They said the best they could do was £64 per month + £25 for the SIM.
However he passed my number onto their outbound team. A brilliant lady rang me up and offered me the deal above today. This is an amazing deal...I am paying £71 (renegotiated last week) and getting:VM 500mb broadbandMaxit TV Package (No Sports or Movies)2x VM BoxesSo No Sim Card which I am now paying seperately at £3pm so total £74 a month!Wish I got a similar deal to you! Would be more than happy to pay another £3 for movies / sports / netflix and 1gb internet

Just a shame we have to go through this dance every 18 months.1 -
about 17 months ago I joint Virgin Media 108 mb with (VOIP) landline with weekend calls £23.50 a month and £100 credit, After 18 Months it goes to £51 a month, which runs out on 8th July.
I phoned on Saturday trying to get a deal, I wanted to stay from £20-£22 a month. They offered same deal at £26 a month. I refused and asked them to cancel it.
They phoned back yesterday and asked me why I was leaving and wanted feedback, I told them because of price, they offered same deal for 18 months £18 a month. On Saturday if they offered been £20-22 month I would have taken the deal.
I've agreed to the new offer so happy :-) . With FIBRE on my address max I can get is probably 35MB.

Gave up on whatsapp and phoned instead. Got straight through to the northern call centre and straight off the bat was offered my same deal for £23. Tried to offer me 200Mb + O2 SIM for £33 but I declined. Happy with that - wish I'd just phoned first now.

Contract due to go up to £59.00 in a month currently paying £34.00 for basic tv Mb100 broadband and talk weekends. Was offered same package for £45.00 but said no, then after saying wanted to cancel put through to another person got it down to £37.00 but wouldn't go lower. I then asked about broadband only eventually offered £25.00 for 18mths which I have accepted.I don't watch much tv or use the phone. Maybe could of got better deal if I had actually gone through and cancelled and waited for ring back.1

200MB for £212 -
After being with VM for many years I finally - after many fruitless attempts - got through to retentions. I politely explained to a charming lady we really could not afford the current package plus their competitors were offering tempting introductory deals. I genuinely did not want to leave but was certainly prepared to do so if they would not negotiate. She very quickly reduced my M200 fibre broadband and landline (weekend free calls) monthly bill from £55 to £35.
I’m convinced the hour plus spent on the call plus previous aborted attempts is part of VM’s plan to put potential hagglers off, so don’t give up!
Many thanks to MSE for the haggling tips which were very handy. I am now on a new 18 month contract so over that time I will save £360!
PS. Chatting to the call handler I advised her about MSE's bank switching, money making scheme which she said she will follow up on! One good turn....
