Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

I have.the same. Its because they had worked out the bill for the next month i.e what I would have paid if I had not phoned retentions , then I negotiated a new price so instead of changing what I paid 1st Feb they have given me a rebate or credit, in March. I find it hard to follow but I think over three or four months it should balance out. It does seem a strange way of doing things but if I am right they will either put money in my account or March and some of April will be free1

I had the same, similar amounts too. I phoned back and told them I was no longer interested. Two days later they phoned offering £29 but I would still have March rise plus they gave me a choice of tv pick package as an extra so I acceptedNot sure if I should post this here, but possibly something to watch out for..I put in a request to leave VM broadband for this week on the 12th, due to the price increase. Eventually received a 'don't leave' email on the 3rd, £27 100M, Offer is available for one week from receipt of email.
I waited until the 6th to agree to the deal, was approved in the evening, new contract sent on the 7th. Annoyingly the contract had changed to £31 a month.
I did call, and submitted a complaint, as the advisor did not have access to any outbound emails. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what was the outcome?
That was for 100 mb basic tv and weekend calls0 -
I was paying £18.20 for M100. I was offered M500 for £22. I accepted. However after sleeping on it realised I didn't need that Speed. Called back to cancel and asked to be put back on M100 . I'm now paying £14.20! Called back to ensure this included price increase. The man I spoke to said he'd never seen it that cheap.0

Your telling me Bettie! Very odd way of doing things if true and never mentioned by the guy I spoke to in retentions - in fact he said your next bill will be £9.00 odd so when I seen £39+ I was like ######!Bettie said:I have.the same. I'm not sure I can wait to see if its right in March!0 -
Just the usual 150, have it on speaker whilst I do other stuff so not an issue for me waiting to answer. Obviously it should work by crediting back the days you’ve already paid for on the last bill, then recharging those days at new price plus the new rate for the next month. So if you’ve had an increase then the bill will be higher than you expect. Weren’t you paying £28 now £18? Was there a period during cancellation whereby it went to the new higher out of contract price? That price thing you put up says your next bill is actually a credit, they are paying you £9.07 in March so Feb was £39.73 March will be credit of £9.07 so together for 2 months you will have paid £30.66, sounds about right as you would have had some days at old £28 price and rest at new £18 price.leew said:
Unbelievable aint they! clueless to say the least, I tried to get my head around the billing and it's just not adding up crazy crazy stuff.PZ19 said:
They screwed my bill up for first month too. Absolutely no idea how their billing system works..was paying £56 now paying £61, changed mid way thru jan. Somehow wanted £80! They credited me back part of month £60, when I had only paid them £56 for whole month so how they could credit me back more than I had paid god knows. Called up 150 and complained couldn’t make the woman in India understand basic maths, she did give credit, and then I put written complaint inleew said:I've been charged £39.73 absolutely fuming
and i cant get hold of VM to question whats going on.
PZ19, what number did you use to contact them on please?

Wow... was that just broadband, or with phone/weekend calls included?Gary1963 said:I was paying £18.20 for M100. I was offered M500 for £22. I accepted. I've just cancelled. Robo-offer of £38.50 then human offer of £32.50 for M100 with weekend calls. Will be happy enough if I can hold on to around the £22 mark I'm currently paying, but you appear to have set a new standard!0 -
Yeah I was paying £28 then £39.73. I cancelled on the 22/01 so you may be right there, the thing that confused us is that the guy on the phone at the time said your next bill ie £39 one will be £9.07, no time did he mention £39 so someone has messed up.PZ19 said:

That's good to know, glad you had a positive outcome. I might have got through to someone very helpful this morning, which they said they will escalate the issue up the chain - not that i'm holding my breath, but I guess wait and see.
