Keeping broadband with Virgin for the time being, as didn't want to gamble without having a better option. Currently paying £47 for 200mbps, they offered to drop it to £45 if I locked into a 12 month contract, which I declined.
Put in leave notice for 30 days, you will get a call back offering you a better deal. You will only get a better deal if you leave. Not sure what its like at moment with virus etc but even if they don't call you can just cancel the leave request. You have 30 days before they shut the services down.

I cancelled on 18th March (see previous post). I have not received a call back from outbound. I don't expect to get a call now either, they usually call within days of cancelling, and they put out a statement shortly after my cancellation to say they are now prioritising 'vulnerable people'. Openreach are no longer visiting homes to connect a BT line AFAIK? So you could well be left without BB if you're not careful. It would appear that VM have you by the danglies in this case....

I guess in current climate this will be the response.

Any ideas how to Cancel a Leave Request while (understandably) nobody from Virgin is responding at the moment ?
Our cancellation is due to go through next week. Heard nothing and now going to need broadband to work from home!
Would still like to leave Virgin if anyone is aware of any broadband solution that could be setup within at most 5 days in the current climate?
Failing that will have to try and cancel the leave request if anyone can advise on that?
    Thanks

OK - A heads up for everyone, and Martin @ MSE if he reads this...
The government along with most major ISP's in the UK, including Virgin Media, recently signed an agreement to remove ALL data caps for fixed broadband services: https://digit.fyi/uk-broadband-providers-data-cap-covid-pandemic/

Now for those who are struggling financially and have placed their 30 days notice to cancel, you will NOT be called back by VM's outbound team at this time, because the outbound team is not currently operational. However, if you can survive on 20Mb Broadband only (streaming 1080p TV only uses around 6Mbps bandwidth), when you call retentions to cancel, ask them for their M20 only package. It used to be capped at 30Gb, I can confirm the data cap has now been removed. Customers who are already on M20 have received an email informing them that the data cap has been permanently removed in light of Covid-19.

Retentions are currently offering M20 unlimited Broadband to existing customers for £16.05 / month on a 12 month contract. Some retention staff are unaware of the data cap removal, but tell them to query their line manager, and they should confirm the data cap removal. You will still see the data usage monitor on your VM account page, and you may even get reminders that you are likely to go over the previous 30Gb limit. They can all be ignored, and you will not be charged any excess for going over the now defunct 30Gb limit.

I just signed up to a new M20 contract, and am getting a solid 21Mbps, more than enough for my needs.

Retentions are answering, but expect to wait around 20 minutes or so during the day, you can contact them on 0345 454 1111. Choose the options for leaving VM, opt4 & opt4 when you've passed security.

    Stay Connected, Stay Safe  :)

Virgin completely refusing to reduce my cost despite the rises.  I may actually finally be leaving them after 15 years.

Be wary of leaving if you're expecting to go back to broadband via a BT landline. Openreach are no longer going into people's property to deal with new lines or reconnection issues due to Covid-19. That and the dates for an appointment were in June when I enquired. It may be different in your area, you will need to enquire. My old BT line wasn't used for 12 years, and it was registered as disconnected, meaning Openreach would likely need to enter my property. They could give me no timescale on this, aside from suggesting it would be when social distancing guidance had been lifted, and who knows when that will be... If you do cancel your VM contract, you have 30 days to reverse your decision and stay with them.
