Its that time of the year again, when VM seem to think its ok to put up their prices, with no change in service, whilst ignoring my longstanding years with them (back to Telewest days)

    Currently on:
    TV - Full house
    BB - 200mb
    PH - Weekend
Current deal (used a link shared on here last year) is £45/m

Just had the email advising they'd want me to pay £80.47/m

Just called and IVR offers a default discount of £2/m (woop woop I hear you cry!)

Lady advised that maxing her available discounts (I didn’t haggle, just let her work it out), best price would be £54/m

Just feel it’s the same fight every year and I think its time to move, especially since I don’t even own a house phone to plug into the socket (been advised that keeping the 3 services offers bigger account discount, than only taking 2)

Cancellation given and due to cease services on the 14th of November – if they call, then great but not that bothered if I move to a good quality BB provider, as we stream so much in the household!

Didn't take too long and minor haggling needed

Missed a call early this morning but took the second one just now, with them offering:

Same range of services (which based on a new customer would cost £62/m) with them offering me at £49/m - an increase of £4/m on current but I’d expected to be paying something more

Pretty happy with that, as it’s a realistic price and no disruption to the service

Gave my month’s notice a couple of weeks ago and had heard nothing. Checked my e-mail account today and there was my offer to stay with VM in my Spam folder!
Been recently paying £76 a month for:

    1 x V6 box and 1 x Tivo box in another room
    Full House TV
    150MB broadband
    Talk Weekends

E-mail offered all of the above (Full House now called Maxit) and an increase to 200MB broadband for £49 a month for 12 months.

Accepted and very happy with that result.

So if you are waiting for a call, remember to also check your e-mail and spam folder!

    You've done well then. I have 1 V6 box,full house and a 100mb,currently paying £55.
Phoned up,no deals offered and it goes up to £73 in a month.Told them I wished to cancel and got cut off ! So looks like I'll have to ring back,be put on hold for 15 mnutes and go through the whole palava again
  • VM really hate their existing customers, don't they!

I just cancelled 'phone and TV and am now on 100Mb broadband only at £39 a month!

As soon as there's a viable alternative I'll cancel completely.

    Currently on

    TV Big Bundle
    BB 100Mb
    PH weekend
£37 per month but increased to £59.

    They've offered the same
    12 month contract: £36 for 6 months and £39.50 for 6 months

    Or with
    BB 200MB
    12 month contract: £40.50 for 6 months and £44 for 6 months

    or with
    BB 1GB
    12 month contract: £48.50/month + £5 for new Hub

I've had to go for the 1GB, intrigued if it will really be that fast!

    Tv full house
    Bb 200mb
    Talk weekends
    £57
I thought I’d done well to get monthly payment down from £76 to £57 until I saw other people’s successes but I am happy about it anyway.

What is the best way to get even a sniff of a deal?

Virgin Customer for about 15 years, been convinced to stay by several discounts over the years (some really good). Bill has gone up to over £110 per month (Full House, Sports, 2 boxes), but decided I don't really need all that so looking to cut costs massively.

I asked to be cut down to the MINIMIM of everything. Offered £53 a month, so arranged cut off 10 days ago. Giy n the cut off department couldn't offer me any better (worse in fact). No phone call back yet, but called today to see if they could match similar to Sky for £45, which included anytime calls. Offered £59, not including calls - basic broadband, basic tv, line rental.

How have you guys got these good deals and is there any way of getting through to someone who can at least TRY to tempt me to stay?
Skint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.

Think skint - it makes things simpler

If you can get the same or even better for cheaper from Sky just do it, in 18 months time you'll be a 'new' customer with Virgin so can get new customer discounts.

You need to use the 'thinking of leaving us' phone option. Over the past year I've found even that route has changed to an overseas centre of helpful yet still more sales- than retention-focused staff. So if no joy ask to be connected to someone who can discuss every available option, such as Broadband only (UK retentions team).

Then just politely go through the prices offered by their competitors, comparison site deals, new customers. Highlight any problems you've had with connection/reliability over the year - i.e. any issues that are genuinely causing you to look elsewhere. Usually get an improvement.

As above though, the best prices are sadly still offered to new customers. If you can find a good deal elsewhere take it and try again a year later.
