Read the advice on here and called them on Sunday morning.

They offered me £3.50 off for 6 months (So £44.50 for 100mb + Phone, Bills gone up from £32 to £47) :)
(It's currently £26 for new customers)

So, Asked for my months notice (to leave) to start, hopefully they'll give me a call before then :/

Called back this morning, so next day call-back ... offered me £29 (for 100mb + Weekend calls).

Pretty happy with this, Probably could have got it down further but I just took the first thing he offered since in my head I wanted it to be under £30 per month.

£47 down to £29, £216 saving a year, can't really complain about that.

Also said it would be £5 extra if I wanted to take the 200mb, so if you're trying to haggle down a 200mb deal, you should be able to get it for £34 at the most.
  • My Virgin Bill has gone up to £93/month. Something has to be done about this.

    Currently on
    TV Mix (whatever that is)
    100 Mb broadband
    Weekend Phone
    Sky Sports

Now that the Ashes has finished and Sky don't have the rights for the winter tour, I'm definitely going to drop the Sky Sports

The broadband is great but I could probably cope with a slower speed

I really don't watch that much live TV so I'm starting to think that I should just go for Freeview/Freesat.
  • Well, I just got 100Mb broadband with weekend phone for £29.

I don't watch TV either and if there was something I wanted to watch I can just stream it. So maybe consider that as an option if you can wangle a new deal with them.

Yes, that's the way my thinking is headed. I might be even willing to drop down to 50Mb.

I'm tempted, as an experiment, to unplug by Virgin TV box for a week to see if I miss it.
  • I'm on £51 a month for the Full House TV bundle with 100MB broadband and weekend calls.

I called to cancel, put through to retentions and was given £56/month for 6 months and £60/month after that.

I really grudge paying more and not getting anything in return but two calls later and they're not budging.

    Any advice?

Yes, put your 1 months cancellation notice in..saying it’s too expensive. Hopefully the outbound retentions team will call you within days with a cheaper deal. You will probably get offered that for around £40-44 a month and they are likely to upgrade your broadband. If they somehow don’t call, either move elsewhere or stop your cancellation before the disconnection date.
  • Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit stuffed if I dont use Virgin because of my location so I called them back and somehow got it down to £52/month for 6 months, £56 after that and £30 credit.

    I'm happy with that.
  • So, I was paying £72 for:
    Full House TV (now Maxit)

    Sky Sports
    Sky Sports HD pack
    200Mb broadband
    Talk Weekends

Bill was going up to £109 then another £4.50 with the price increase and then another £4.88 with some random discount that lasted a few weeks longer than my previous discounts for some silly reason.
Best they could offer was £100, then they offered £84. Went ahead with cancellation yesterday and less than 24hrs later they called and offered me the same package for £65. Didn't bother trying to haggle more, more than happy with that price and it means I don't have to put up with Sky's dodgy broadband.
Last year they only called back after I'd signed up with Sky and requested my landline number be ported over so I'm glad it's all sorted much quicker this time.

I will need to be making this same call v shortly....am on same ex 100mb and standard rather than HD sky sports...currently paying £57pm so similar to your new deal I guess once you factor in your enhancements versus my package.
  • How long have you been with Virgin? They mentioned it would be a shame to lose a customer after 12 years but after he offered £65 I was too happy to negotiate. First time I've had a price less than what they offer new customers, I did mention that I was going to sign up with Sky with Sports, HD and their fastest (cough) broadband for £57 after cashback the first time I called.

Wish they would offer the best deals the first time I call, I'm happy with the service but I'm willing to put up with dodgy broadband for 18 months if its saving me £50 a month,
