What is the best way to get even a sniff of a deal?

Virgin Customer for about 15 years, been convinced to stay by several discounts over the years (some really good). Bill has gone up to over £110 per month (Full House, Sports, 2 boxes), but decided I don't really need all that so looking to cut costs massively.

I asked to be cut down to the MINIMIM of everything. Offered £53 a month, so arranged cut off 10 days ago. Giy n the cut off department couldn't offer me any better (worse in fact). No phone call back yet, but called today to see if they could match similar to Sky for £45, which included anytime calls. Offered £59, not including calls - basic broadband, basic tv, line rental.

How have you guys got these good deals and is there any way of getting through to someone who can at least TRY to tempt me to stay?

I was recently offered £43/month (was going to be £67) for evening/weekend calls,200meg BB and player TV bundle (basic)
Thats £4 more than have been paying.
Just to give you a guide price.
I cancelled anyway so I'll see if I can get it trimmed down

Thanks for the guide price, but they were not interested. I was armed with BTs price, and a price someone was offered YESTERDAY! Both £20-£30 less. They could not have been less interested (although very pleasant!). As I said, it was "take it or leave it".

Have they not been phoning you?
I cancelled a few days ago and have had 3 calls a day since. not answered as ive hurt my back and CBA playing the game just now.

Not a single call, although we are out all day so they MAY have phoned the landline.

Their algorithm obviously tells them I'm not worth keeping...:(

I know I'm not ENTITLED to any fabulous deal, but really cant believe how unsuccessful I've been.

Currently on Full House + Sky Sports + 200BB + Talk Weekends and an extra box. Was £110ish and don't even use half the channels.

Phoned to cut everything back to the basic, offered £53, but see lots of people getting prices in the £30s so cancelled, genuinely intending to switch to another provider in 30days. Life events have meant I've not had the chance, but phoned BT tonight (7 days till cut off), who offered £34.99 for Classic bundle plus weekend calls.

Phoned VM, and absolutely no attempt to keep me. Now £59, but first lady put me through to "specialist team" - still £59!! For Freeview channels, basic BB and weekend calls. No movement - take it or leave it.

Surely this is too much? Don't know what to do now as I have no time to organise BT / Sky and need the internet but think I'm being take for a ride...:(

If you've got time to post on here then you've got time to click a few buttons online and move away, in 18/24 months time you can (if needed) move back as a new customer. You're making it sound way more complicated and difficult then it is.

I have had landline calls. not a number we give out si tis likely VM.
at least 2 calls a day on the mobile . either an 0800 number or an 0345 number.
Do you have contact preferences set to no calls perhaps?

Decided I was too anxious about too much change at once and time was running out, meaning I would have to have a period with no phone or BB. NOt an option. Phoned up to say I would keep phone and BB temporarlly - £44 for M50 and Talk weekends on a rolling 30 day contract. He said even if I took out a contract there was no discount available. I reckon I'm blacklisted for discounts for some reason! Smart TV Freeview and Firestick will do for tv for now. Can always change if I find a better option but worried about changing BB providers

End of the day still saving £60 a month.

  • Handed my cancellation noticed and received a phone call from loyalty outbound team.

I was paying £64 per month for Full House XL TV, Sky Movies, 200MB Broadband and Talk more Anytime.

I have now been offered the following:

    1) £48.50 for 12 months
MAXIT TV (plus kids bundle and sky movies)
    350MB Broadband
    Talk weekends

    2) £40 for 12 months
    MAXIT TV (plus Kids bundle)
    200MB Broadband
    Talk weekends

Trying to decide between the two. Tried to negotiate down further but not had much success and don't think they will budge anymore. Wondering whether it is worth paying extra £8.50 for theoretically faster BB and Sky Movies.

£8.50 for movies and the exrtra BB speed is good.
Ive talked myself out of upgrading on speed.
on my call they said average household is around 150 to 200gb a month download.
I *cough* blow that out the water on 200 with no issues on speeds/buffering
