Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

I have VM 200mb and phone (weekends) was paying £35 with loyalty discounts for 18months that has just expired so price increased to £56. Rang yesterday to see what deal they would do, and mentioned Sky's Black Friday deal of £29.95, they offered £39 which I rejected and started the cancellation process. 30 days notice given. The next day (today) they rang and have offered £30 for 12 months, which I happily accepted.
You so need to actually cancel to get the best deals.
I've got the most basic of basic packages, 100mb fibre, basic TV and phone. I was paying £54 per month on that, live chat said they'd reduce to £47. I did as above (told them I'd ordered Sky) and they've dropped it to £26 per month for 12 months. Very happy with that.0 -

Now that is a result, nicely done! :T0 -
current Package
Basic TV
100Mb BB
Anytime calls
V6 box
Premier sports
Going up to £78 per month from £50
Was offered £58 from the cancellation team but have put in an order with Sky for
BB ADSL (all thats available)
Entertainment TV
Anytime calls
Multiroom
£41.50
Possibly £100 cashback via Topcashback which if it comes through will pay for my Premier sports for the year.
Sky BB goes live 10 days before Virgin cancellation so hoping that gives me enough time to try it out and if we cant live with the speeds we can stay with Virgin. Anyone know what would happen to our phone number in this situation - we've requested it gets moved over but if we cancel can it get moved back?0 -
Actually quite unusual in my experience. I've had one year when I was told that I was teh longest standing customer they had spoken to in ages and asked to give her a few mins to see what she could do. Came back with a good deal and I accepted with no haggling. Dont even think I put in my cancellation that year. Last couple of years have been much harder for me and lack of fiber availability makes it harder as Virgin know they have the upper hand with broadband speed.0

So had the call back from retentions and although the offer was slightly improved it wasn't good enough compared with the Sky offer. I did ask that they get in touch again prior to disconnection - and then later that night I got an email confirming my preferences has been successfully updated. Logged in to find that the person had changed them to say I dont wish any communications from Virgin which I thought was rather naughty and spiteful tbh. Still considering making a complaint as think thats out of order
Perhaps its just confirming that I'm correct to leave.0 -
I was on last years Black Friday deal, all TV & Sky Cinema, 100Mb BB and Talk Weekends for £62
I was actually paying upwards of £71 per month because of the amount of time the wife spent on the phone.
Called yesterday to either drop TV and keep BB and upgrade to talk Anytime, considering this was £33 for new customers on the black Friday deal, the best they could do was the list price of £55.
They then offered me exactly what I have now, with Talk Anytime for £80, which is £18 more than the current deal, and £9 more than what I actually pay.
So I cancelled there and then as I can get a good deal as a returning customer with Sky.
Got a call back this morning, only want the BB, so they would offer either 100Mb and Talk Anytime at £34 (£1 more than the Black Friday prices) or 50Mb and Talk Anytime for £29 (which is what I will pay Sky for their internet).
I'm undecided on the offer at the moment.0 -
I've just haggled, cancelled, had the call haggled and settled with Virgin Media.
Have gone from £52 per month for
Phone package (evening and weekends) but never used it, we don't have a phone
Mix Tv
350MB broadband
to £34 per month just for 350MB broadband. Which for us is all we want/need..
However the other options presented to me were
100MB Broadband only £24pm
200MB Broadband only £29pm
350MB Broadband / Phone / Full TV (without movies/sports but did include BT sport) £49pm0 -

VM/Sky/BT etc need to look over their offerings and prices.
I know Im bored of the haggling and games.
More so (like many Im tech savy enough to have access to every Tv/Movie on the net if needs be. including having a full Sky or cable package for a fraction of what they charge.0 -
Don't waste your money with making telephone calls on a landline from VM /BT etc...... You can get unlimited minutes to landlines and mobiles for £6.25 a month on a monthly rolling contract with SMARTY & others. I contacted them to double check it was truly unlimited & no silly nonsense hanging up after 59 minutes, Yes. All you need is an unlocked mobile phone. My old landline phone just gathers dust behind the settee. Only scammers call that number now.
Like others on here, VM offered me 100mb BB only for £24 a month, only after I had cancelled & paid the install fee to PlusNet! :mad:0
