£8.50 for movies and the exrtra BB speed is good.
Ive talked myself out of upgrading on speed.
on my call they said average household is around 150 to 200gb a month download.
I *cough* blow that out the water on 200 with no issues on speeds/buffering

Currently on the 200mb broadband - I find we rarely get that speed (usually around 100-150 on average). Wondering if the 350mb is worth paying for the upgrade if the speed is only theoretical (although might mean I get 200+ which would be an improvement).

Personally I find Sky movies on Virgin inferior to the actual product on Sky with less choices and new releases are rare, but my daughter enjoys watching the Disney classics

I'm on £87.24 for 70Mb broadband and basic TV with Sky Sports. A similar package on Sky seemed to be £56.78 so I called to cancel.

They put me through to retentions straightaway and offered £56.99 for a 12 month deal. I tried to get HD Sports included but they wouldn't play ball, I accepted it anyway to save the hassle of switching. Pretty happy with that.

Could always not bother and get Disney+ when it hits the UK?

I now from previous dealings the Sky stuff is tighter to haggle on due to tight margins from Skys pricing.
I recall one year leaving VM as they simply couldnt get near Skys offer, due to Sky ramping the pricing up.
  • I was paying £64 per month for Full House XL TV, Sky Movies, 200MB Broadband and Talk more Anytime.
If this is what you were paying, it doesn't sound too bad. I'm now paying £63 per month (standard rate I believe) for Fun TV (bit below Full House), 100Mb broadband and Talk Weekends. No extras whatsoever.

I'm currently doing my homework on my options and will call retentions soon. I have been paying around £40-45 for the last six years for more or less the same package, but it has gone up £20 since Nov 2017, due to two price rises and loyalty discounts ending. That's a big percentage increase in a short time. I don't even need/want so many channels and 50Mb would be sufficient. But I know retentions like to give you more extras for less, so you end up paying more in the end! Will post here how I get on...

Have a look at Sky - their deals are much better than the standard Virgin offering and I'm going to use that to negotiate with them. I've been with Virgin for 12 years but the last year or so the retention deals are getting worse and I'm genuinely looking at moving. Unfortunately we still cant get BT provided fibre so its Virgin or ADSL, and Virgin know it

    Will also update

I suppose that plays a factor too.
I live in a city with a choice of just about everybody.
I have also in previous years jumped to Sky so I guess they know its not bluff with me.

I also live in a city but we are directly connected to teh exchange which means they cant just bring fiber to the cabinet hence we are bottom of the pile when it comes to getting fiber services as its more challenging
  • Have been a VM for over 10 years now paying approx £60 pm for 70Mb broadband, weekend/evening telephone + basic TV package.
Gone for NOW TV package (slower fibre broadband 36Mb but anytime telephone calls) approx £25pm thru cashback site (+ another £90 off).
Cancelled VM giving 30 days notice and no VM calls. Organised switch date with NOW TV and VM called me within 24 hours.
VM retentions have offered £38 pm package - have refused initial offer. Will be interesting to see if they can approach £25 pm.

I have VM 200mb and phone (weekends) was paying £35 with loyalty discounts for 18months that has just expired so price increased to £56. Rang yesterday to see what deal they would do, and mentioned Sky's Black Friday deal of £29.95, they offered £39 which I rejected and started the cancellation process. 30 days notice given. The next day (today) they rang and have offered £30 for 12 months, which I happily accepted.

You so need to actually cancel to get the best deals.
