Called Virgin a few days ago to cancel after price of land line, 100 Mb broadband and full house TV rose to £78. They offered a reduction to £63 the same package or £51 for a package with basic TV. I asked them to go ahead with the cancellation. Haven't yet arranged a new provider – interested to see if I get a better offer from Virgin.
Got the call today. £49 for existing package but with doubled broadband speed!

Gave notice at the start of the month, was paying £40 for 200mb, talk weekends and the full house TV.

Got nowhere with the phone team (fair enough) and had signed up with BT to start next month at £49.99 a month for 32mb with their 4K TV package that wouldn't actually be in 4K.

Had an email yesterday offering 200mb, talk weekends and maxit TV for £49. Accepted it via the webform but for some reason they've put me on 100mb for £44 a month. I'll probably leave it at that rather than chasing it. No idea what's going to happen with my bills as I don't understand the billing cycle against the contractual date but it seems they're part crediting this month's bill.

Has anybody noticed that if you change anything on your package (as I did ie. negotiated to cancel the price increase) then a new 12 month contract starts from the date of the change? This could go against you as the loyalty discounts expire before the end of the new contract and could cost an early disconnection fee if you choose to leave.
Yes iv'e had that a couple of times i always make sure any price i get includes and discounts for the full 12 month.
    And always record it.

How late did you receive the call? I see you've posted nearly a month after making your cancellation request.
I went on holiday 23rd July and they were calling me daily. Didn't deal with it till i got back.
  • I gave my notice to cancel to Virgin on Tuesday daytime and they’ve been constantly calling since - I’ve not answered yet while I weigh up what I want.

    I called Saturday 8am today.

Full house (inc sky sports non-hd and bt sports), phone and internet currently £79pm rising by £25 to £105!!!??

I live in a building with fibre optic and not allowed sky dish, what options do i have? £105 pm is just extortionate

Even though we have fibre optic cables can i still get another broadband provider and Now tv etc?

I dont use house phone at all, just net and tv (sports).

What do you actually mean by Fibre Optic ??
BT Open Reach FTTP or other or just plain old Fibre to the local cabinet .

Yes you are stuck if you only have VM (not fibre optic )
But put your postcode in the BB checker first to double check .
You cannot get other providers over the VM network .
