Hope today goes well - what's snip snip day?

Had a brief moment of panic when I looked just now and the webcam wasn't working, but have realised he's away at the hospital again. :)

Aww yes it's snip snip day.

We get him about 5 or 6, just decided to save electric and not put laptop on, whilst airing the room, poor thing every time he pees he stinks out the room, so a real good vacuum and airing web cam will be on later.

Oh, bless him! Sorry - hadn't seen earlier that he wasn't neutered yet. Honestly, hit by a car then someone lops his balls off. Poor boy!

All home and spaced out in his crate, not sure if he has realised yet that there is something missing

    The snip done.

Hopefully the final bandage we will find out Friday afternoon.

The vets didn't give us a cone of shame, we thought perhaps he wouldn't need one if he didn't have one, how wrong was I.

Although a space cadet Dave just wouldn't stop licking that area and so his old cone of shame went on, and he is now sulking oops

hmmm not to sure what to think here.

Dave was at vets yesterday and had a bandage change, it came off this morning, back to vets to put new one on, it came off tonight, this will be the 3rd time in 2 weeks it's fallen off, we get charged to put it back on.

Now are they not putting it on properly, being slap dash, or is it one of those things.

So back to tonight, it comes off, looks at the time, vets are closed, now i could of taken him to out of hours vets and spent ages telling them what's happened this last month or so, or ring Langford, who did treat him - yes i rang langford.

A very very nice Vet rang back, only one of the top ones there (oooo) who felt that considering we have been told Sunday the bandage comes off for good, and that we (the parent) have behaved and did everything we have been told to do and that Dave has been in the crate all the time and not allowed to run around, that perhaps its time, we need to ring our vet in the morning.

Freedom for Dave, who now holds his paw up to say, bad paw mum. bless im

We still won't let him out of the crate yet, but perhaps having that stupidly long bandage off will help him - mind you he just managed to walk to the litter tray and make an almighty smell, and couped down just like a big boy cat :)

Oooh, so he was saying that as the bandage was coming off on Sunday anyway, it could just come off now? Exciting!

If your vet wants to put the bandage back on I'd be questioning it - coming off three times in two weeks suggests to me that it's not being applied well (given that previous ones stayed on fine?). Has someone different applied the bandage the recent times?

Husband rang them today and said he expects a refund. Receptionist told him she would get a vet to call back, this was 930 this morning and its now 7.29pm no calls. :(

Well the vet didn't ring husband back, BUT rang me the following day with apologies for charging for the bandage again so another credit on our account.

I advised her what Langford vet said that being so close to Sunday there really was no point in putting another on.

So Dave is finally bandage free, and Gizmo the older can has casually walked in the room to look at Dave, (been a first he didn't want to know for the past month or so - progress)

Dave was on the bed with hubby and saw Georgie the female cat and tried to run and jump on her, epic fail husband grabbed him.

But we do let Dave out of the crate for 5 mins now and then to stretch his legs and he wobbles you can see the back legs need working on and he is a little nervous of putting too much weight on that front paw, so he has a little walk of a few steps then lies down.

He also will do a runner if the crate door is open and hubby is sorting his litter tray inside crate, but as the room is so small he can't go far, but that brings us to being extra vigilant when we are in there doing litter tray / food etc.

So next is vets tomorrow for check on his castration area, all looks good and clean.

Then wait for Langford to want to do x-rays to see if all this has worked (fingers crossed)

and then the crate can be left open and the bedroom door firmly shut. Until he is allowed out of the room, but i think right now he is going to find the stairs impossible.
