Well that didn't last long, he pushed the plastic to one side and ran for it.

So now they are cable tied, we are counting the minutes of his plotting to escape

24 hours later caught the little monster climbing the extra tall baby gate ready to launch...

Rang Langford who promptly said, ROOM REST ONLY.

Poor Dave, had a taste of freedom and to have it snatched away again.

And so In the room he stays with nothing but 4 walls to stare at, husband even locks the door, he is convinced Dave has jumped up to grab the handle. :rotfl:

We go in every few hours just to spend time with Dave, it can't be nice stuck in there 24/7

Still going to put his harness on and let him in the garden for small walks.

Well since i last posted, Dave was given freedom but no jumping (ha who are they kidding)

But we thought it best to keep to house arrest until this week when Dave had another visit to Langford to decide if the pins in his spinal area.

The decision to remove the pin as all bones had healed, and so Wednesday afternoon he had the op and we had him back Thursday on room rest - 4 weeks.

I know this will comes as a blow to Dave as Tuesday night as i tucked him in etc and left the bedroom window open a teeny bit for air, come Wednesday morning son opens back door and Dave is sat there on the patio

Dave has previous to Wednesday been charging around the house like a looney, still thinking there is nothing wrong, hind legs like paddles going in opposite directions to where they should go but he manages.

The vets hope he will improve but say its impossible at this stage to say by how much, but which ever way Dave has adapted well and is still a lil terror.

  • Only found this post this morning and read the whole thing. I am so glad that Dave is doing well. He is definately a little fighter.

Typical cat with all the escapes and mischief. Hope there is continued good news for Dave and he can get on with being a normal cat. He really has been through the wars, so glad he (and you & hubby!) kept on fighting!!

Dave turned one last month and being so young has helped him get through this.

He has so much character and will always be treated as the baby of the family, he is so mischievous little devil.

He also still loves cuddles and a big purr monster.

He is getting on great, which now gives me time now to get on with my fudge making and fundraising, in a years time i'll be in Russia for my HSCT treatment

It's been a while, Dave did his time on his final room rest, and then when he was allowed out we still made him stay in his room at night until we were sure all the areas he could escape in the garden were dealt with.

The first few days we were nervous, he climbed on the extension roof, but was too scared to jump down (it would of hurt his front paw that still has pins in)

I did ask hubby was it worth getting pain relief from vet for when Dave went to far, hubby said no, Dave needs to learn that certain things right now will make his paw hurt.

But now its been a few weeks and make shift ladders in place for when he goes climbing, he loves to sit high and watch the world go by.

Dave is allowed out full time, and is absolutely fine, he still the cheeky little monkey, plays with the other cats, running around the garden, still has his paddle feet that have a mind of their own when he runs, but he has adapted.

He still has his sweet nature, despite what he has gone through. Although the sight of the carry box for the V.E.T.S. sends him running. He definitely hates vets now, refuses to come out the box when he does go.

You know when he is tired, he limps, and when he rests he limps as things seize up but apart from that still a joy.

Our kitty has always been the same, despite never having had a really bad experience like Dave's!

Before we go - even Dreamies won't get him near the box. And that's saying something because ours has a SERIOUS Dreamie addiction problem. It's a two-person job to get him in the box - one to hold him and stuff him in (in reverse so he can't see it coming) and the other to whip the door up. We tried every soft approach possible before resorting to this, I might add.

He shakes like a leaf in the box, the whole way there and in the waiting room. :( Then, in the room, he won't come out of the box. Our vet is great and takes the top half of the box off and examines him while he's hunkered down in the bottom of it (unless they really need to get him out for what they're looking at). If kitty is on the table he slinks around and leaves sweaty little paw prints everywhere! :(

But - within ten minutes of getting home - and after a few Dreamies ;) - he's always forgiven us. :) He's been like this for the couple of years we've had him and it doesn't do any lasting damage. :)
