So today Dave gets a change of scenery and lots of people fussing around him.
He's at the vets.
This is going to be every 5 days for the next 6 weeks.
Checking everything is ok and changing dressing etc.
Today they will put him under general because now he is trying to be more mobile and fidgety it is better for him less stress and less pain.
Miss him already, won't be much of him on webcam when he gets home, will have him on the bed relaxing to help him settle home.0 -
So pleased that Dave is on the mend, by the way I just think that Dave is the coolest name for a cat, it really suits him :-)Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0

It so does suit him.
Poor thing is not happy tonight.
Vets made the splint even longer to stop mobility in his front leg, poor thing can't cope with it. Although he was doing a lot of light sabre star wars throwing it around in the air whilst on his back earlier0 -

Ahh, bless, just watched him having his tea.
He's such a ganet, none of that touched the sides, think from being the runt of the litter it was grab what you can.
I do get him out lots for the social side of it, as i think keeping him in there 24/7 will not help him.
The cats still ignore him, but we lie on the bed, me doing crochet and watching a film or catch up on tv, he seems to relax more.0 -
My cat ran off for a few weeks, and got knocked down and fractured his pelvis.
When I got him back he was through the surgery, and thankfully everything was working.
Kept in a small bathroom for a few more weeks, and he limped for near 6 months, but is completely fine now.0 -
He's got the dog's old cushion in there now, nice and padded he seems to enjoy it more, he's not so restless, and it means we can bring the cushion out for him to lie on at the same time without causing him distress of picking him up, hope he doesn't get used to this kind of treatment.
He is on wet food but he really doesn't drink anything, i will dip my finger in the water for the droplet to go on him mouth or nose whichever i get to. So got some cat milk today, he had a little drink nothing much, although if i offered ice cream he would go for that (i'm not apart from a little bit on my finger).
He's managing better with the green bandage although now and then swings it around like a light sabre. Rather than lying down in the litter tray to do his thing, he is now sat up doing it like a proper kitty.
He's doing an overnight at the vets on Sunday as we have to go away for a few days and he still needs his checkups which will be Monday, son and friend will get him packed up, my friend will drop him off and son will pick him up after work on Monday.0 -
If you're concerned he's not drinking enough can you ask the vet to give you a syringe without the needle so you can dribble some into his mouth?

we have syringes here for his medicine, a few spare so we can do that, husband has a few times.
Good plan.
Now my next question is poor Dave stinks, he stinks of his wee, bless him, I'm thinking pet wipes rather than subject him to cotton wool and water any tips?0 -
What a beautiful cat. So glad you saved him.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
