To be fair, if you are paying a per-minute rate for calls to numbers starting 01, 02, 03, 071-075 or 077-079 then you are exceeding your allowance and on the wrong price plan. Likewise for text messages to other mobiles. Change to a plan with a larger inclusive allowance.

If you are making calls to numbers starting 084 or 087 then you need to check the official website of whoever you are calling for their new number. Customer services, financial services, public services and healthcare services are no longer allowed to use these numbers.

If you are calling numbers in Jersey, Guernsey or Isle of Man, look for a dial-through provider with an 03 number with nothing further to pay or an 080 number where the dial-through provider sends a separate monthly bill for the onwards leg of these calls.

If you are calling 09 and 118 numbers, a 10p per minute change in the Access Charge will make very little difference to the overall cost of the call.

So, is it possible to cancel the contract free of charge if you usually don't exceed your allowance?

Why would you need to? The price of what you actually do won't be changing.

No. It's the fact that you use out of bundle services that has triggered the right to cancel.

I have received a text from vodafone this morning saying
From 23 July 2016 we are changing some of our prices. This change does not affect any of your inclusive minutes, text or data bundles. To see how these changes impact you please visit vdfn.co/PAYM-3

    which links to this page

Looks like I can use this to cancel the 2 contracts I have with them? Does anyone have a template letter to use for them.
  • Ive also had this offer, and will take them up - have found it really hard work dealing with vodafone customer service - through the mis setting up of direct debit, and general unhelpfulness / ability to help whenever calling 191. Ive over a year left on my monthly contract so will change to a SIM only deal and cut my bill by at least 50%.

Will send the letter by registered post - thanks for the tip on that.

I've just got the text: fantastic news and I'm looking forward to leaving Vodafone after 18 years.

Having said which... I loathe the Samsung 5S on my current contract almost as much as I loathe my experiences last year with Vodafone customer services, and can't wait to chuck it in a skip (metaphorically, since in practice I think it would be more responsible from environmental and security viewpoints to put it at the bottom of a cupboard somewhere). Next time round I'll get a budget phone and a SIM-only contract.

I'll be keeping my iPhone6 plus on sim only, but it certainly wont be a vodafone sim only, they have been a nightmare, of poor coverage, poor customer service and charged incorrectly on numerous occasions. I'll be going back to Three. Means I can get the next iPhone when it comes out.
  • My advice is to seize any opportunity to leave this pathetic excuse of a mobile phone company. If you get the message from them act on it immediately and don't get talked into staying no matter how cheap it seems.

Check out the copious complaints and MSE official criticism threads on here to see what a shower they are.

I went into the nearby vodafone shop before posting about this and the girl there said you have to wait until a price change shows on your bill. Is this correct or can I sent them a letter now?
