How many Lloyds Club accounts can you open?

IMHO everyone who has posted has gone about this in the wrong way.
We were able to do this completely online with Halifax.
The steps are:
1. Both parties already have sole accounts
2. Person A converts sole account into joint online by adding person B
3. Person A's account should then appear on person B's internet banking
4. Wait a few weeks
5. Person A opens new sole account online
As Lloyds and Halifax still use the same website systems, it should work the same with Lloyds, but I'm now scared to try it out since I don't want my wife to be left without a sole account, and we don't want to go into a branch.0 -

The system wont let you upgrade if you already have a club account ,it then tells you to ring them.
Or at least it did.0 -

Don't be so sure, there are things you can do on Halifax's and TSB sites that can't be done on Lloyds's even with the same system

True. Just tried it a few minutes ago to upgrade it to Club Loyds
This is a message I got
"Sorry, but we're unable to add Club Lloyds to your account. Please contact your branch who will be happy to discuss this with you."
I am not going to go to their branch for obvious reason ...
But they allow to upgrade to their premium account with perks (e.g. Silver £9.95 or Gold £17 month). I do not need that perks as I already get it from my other current A/C.
What I am thinking here is that it might work by doing a trick to the system. (cheating the system if you want to call it) e.g. upgrade it to Silver Account for a month and then after a month elapse, downgrade it to club Lloyds again (or cancel ?) ?? Has someone tried this and what you have got. Would you be able to downgrade it without the need for CS or branch to get involved ??0 -
We did ours as ceredigion described in post 11. A bit of a workaround perhaps, but all fairly painless really.0

Just to reiterate, I created two sole club accounts for myself and partner.
Funded these, got the debit cards, both been activated so that's all good.
Next created a classic account in my name, got the account number and sort code, and then you get a chance to add a second person to cover the account to a joint account.
This is where it went pear shaped. The screen to add my partner looked a bit different, and asked if she was allowed to live in the uk, even tho' I had specified her as British.
Then it wanted an address for the past three years, well we have lived in our current address for many more years than three, but it still wanted her three previous addresses.
So at that point I gave up and now will have to visit the bank to create a joint account!
So, what I've thought of trying now is to create a single classic account in her name and try to add me to it, but that may create more problems than it's worth!
So what does everyone else think?

Was there not a date she could select for length of time at address?
A 'from' 'to' type field.
Once the 3 yr criteria is filled, it normally allows you to move on.So, what I've thought of trying now is to create a single classic account in her name and try to add me to it, but that may create more problems than it's worth!

You will be asked the exact same questions she was asked.
If you are going to do it, persevere with it, or you will end up with loads of sole accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
