OH and I have a Club Lloyds account each.

I tried to open a Joint account on line but could not do it. Having done the application in my name when trying to add her it refused and said we have to visit a branch.

In branch we had to provide ID - unfortunately the ID proofs listed on the web site were not acceptable because we already have Lloyds accounts we needed to verify by chip and pin. We don't actually use our debit cards and had never activated them.

Eventually we were able to identify ourselves and then had to sit through the videos of the T&Cs (for our benefit) - despite already holding accounts with exactly the same T&Cs - basically a waste of our time designed solely to cover the bank against claims of [strike]misspelling[/strike] [strike]miss-selling[/strike] mis-selling. Grrr - says Grumpy Old Man ;)

edit to add - spelling was never a strength of mine - and has not improved much with age ;)

Did you create two online logins, one for each account? Cheers fj

Yes - both had (& have) our own log in.

You are over complicating that slightly , my wife and I both had club accounts. I then opened a classic account in my name , I added my wife to that to make a joint account ,then a phone call to upgrade it to club ,all done and dusted. Account opened and fully funded within a week.

That sounds good to me, will give it a go tomorrow.

BTW did you use one of your online logins, or do you need to create another one?

    Thanks fj

Okay, I tried this today, wife and I both have single club accounts and online access to both individually.

Today I opened a single classic account in my name. No problem with that, and at the end once account is opened you can go on and make it a joint account. This is where it went wrong, the form for the joint holder assumed that person was a non ULperson and asked for residency and visa information, also kept asking for previous three addresses.

I gave up so will need to visit a branch to make it a joint account.

So what proof of id will my wife need? Will her club account debit card do? It's been activated. She has a driving licence and a bus pass, anything else? Of course she has the letter confirming her club account.

I think that should do? fj

Make sure you make an appointment.

    There's a list here http://www.lloydsbank.com/legal/proof-of-identity.asp?srnum=3

The passport will be fine for ID.

One of the below for proof of address
    * Bank, Building Society or Credit Union statement (we do not accept statements printed off the internet)
    * Current UK non photo driving licence (only if it is not been used as your proof of identification)
    * Utility Bill/Utility Statement or Certificate/Letter from a supplier of utilities dated within the last 3 months
    * Local authority tax bill/council tax bill for current year
    * Benefits or pensions notification letter confirming the right to benefit (only if it has not been used as your proof of identification)

Is it called updating or designating if account is changed from Classic Account to Club account ?

Is there any online option to designate from claasic to club account, avoiding the need to talk with them ??

    Upgrade your current account

If you already have a Classic Account with us, you may be interested in upgrading to Club Lloyds or one of our Added Value Accounts. Log on to Internet Banking to see upgrade options available to you.
