some people have got far too attached to win7. just let go. very hard to argue a case for keeping something you don't own

    A predictably dull answer.

It may have been but you seem to confuse buying and owning a laptop with the software you install on it. you don't have to use any version of windows. You can upgrade to Win 10 but if you don't want to and the persuasion annoys you there is software to avoid this. Your problem seems to be that you want to whine about it but not actually take effective action.

    Fanboi, singular. Fanbois, plural.

It's always wise to make sure you are on solid ground if you are going to start playing the pedant.
Oh dear, you really aren't the sharpest and really need to make sure you are on solid ground before making a fool of yourself. I had never heard of the term 'fanbois' before and had to look it up, i was making a joke about myself being able to spell it.

At least now i know it is a derogatory term used by ignorant people who are incapable of putting together a logical, factual or coherent argument to back up their weak or fallacious stance.

I had been holding back on W10 (was on 8.1) but last week found it had loaded automatically.

First impressions are good - undoing the mistakes of 8 and 8.1 - start up seems faster and better desk top and File Manager is back.
That is actually a good point. My PC under windows 7 took over 40 seconds to cold boot. After installing W10 and admittedly removing a couple of programs i don't use any more (lockhunter, libra office and picasa) it currently cold boots to the login screen in 12 seconds.

So don't dismiss the popup by closing the Window with the Red X, those sneaky !!!!!!s at Microsoft treat that as accepting the upgrade.

I think that's what happened to me.

It's good to hear that you've actually learnt something. Happy to have helped.

Your reading skills could do with some work. What I was complaining about was that Microsoft seized control of my property at a time of its choosing, without allowing me to wrest control back and finish my work that day.

Can you imagine if Ford did the same to your car (assuming you have a car)?

I was referring to the original win 7/8 and the fact that you could not continue to log on as the first user without accepting the terms and conditions , which contained the lines that you would accept updates etc
All's well if Win10 was just an update - ITS NOT. Its a complete new OS upgrade, something NOT included within the T&C of Win7. ;)
