I agree W10 is an improvement over W7 (and defintely a vast improvement over W8/8.1) but I wouldn't bother the windows classic shell, it takes a few minutes to get used to the new start menu but overall I find it to be more functional and have grown to like the tiled start menu (I now prefer it to the old W7 layout on my work pc)Windows 10 is a vast improvement, 7 won't be supported for as long as XP was, just upgrade, use Classic Shell (free) if you can't stand the (very good) new start menu.IITYYHTBMAD0 -
And if you don't like the Windows 10 Start 'menu' tiles, you can just right-click on each, and choose Delete. Tedious, but only has to be done once.0

Thanks guys, I am quickly getting used to it. The desktop looks the same, apart from the start menu and finding things like system properties (wanted to see how much disk space I have left after this upgrade), which is tucked away a bit.
All in all, it doesn't seem too bad, and as I said before the machine seems to boot up and close down a bit quicker.0 -
If you want to find anything quickly just open the start menu and type what you want. No need to type in the box.
Don't forget that a right click on the start menu brings up another context menu.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

There are two $windows directories that hold your old version of windows (and take up several Gb). If you are totally happy with W10 and have no intention of reverting to your previous version these can be deleted - there are several ways of doing this but the 'official' way of doing it seems to beThanks guys, I am quickly getting used to it. - click on start; type in 'cleanup'; select disk cleanup; select the cleanup system files button (can take a while); click on 'OK'.IITYYHTBMAD0 -
Would it not be easier to just keep Windows7? I would not want my OS to merely look like Win7, I would want it to be Win7.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »If you want it to look exactly like W7, install Classic Shell and choose "Windows 7 style".:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
