Can't see the problem myself.
For some reason the ruddy shop assistants seem to want to argue when I insist on BUYING the charity bags."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -

But surely, virtually everything is wrapped or in some sort of container? If it's not then you'd be washing it anyway.
I don't buy meat or fish but I understand that meat/fish counters do actually wrap/bag those items?0 -
I do wonder sometimes how generations of us have survived before everything came wrapped in plastic. You know when we had a "shopping bag", into which everything was placed, some things in paper, some not. No fridges. No antibacterial this that and the other, just soap and hot water to clean everything, plus good old bleach of course, with occasional use of Jeyes.
Now we have sprays for and against everything imaginable, half the population seems to be allergic to something, and antibiotics don't work anymore. Oh, and now we are told that washing in low temperatures won't kill the germs and bacteria in our clothes - never mind, they've brought out something for that as well - another additive!
Sheesh!0 -
If you are not exposed to any bacteria you will never build up any resistance to it, so when you do encounter it you are too weak to cope, and have no 'defences' to buy you time.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

I shop at Aldi. Every week. I use the Aldi long life bags, they're brilliant. I put chicken and biscuits in the same bag. Every week.:eek:
Am i going to die ?
Some people are just neurotic about bacteria these days. :rotfl:0 -

I have my own jute bags for supermarket shopping but I recently bought a coat in Debenhams which was an unplanned purchase and was asked if I wanted to buy a bag. I said I thought that paying 5p for a bag for a large item like a coat was a bit much and the sales assistant said it would be 10p because it was a big bag!
I was sorely tempted to just walk out with the coat over my arm. I wonder whether I'd have been stopped by security?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

possibly - but that wouldn't be a problem as you'd have your receipt.

Yes technically you could use your bag for life in any supermarket but it's not going to go down very well when you're in Tesco and suddenly pull out a load of bright orange bags advertising Sainsburys is it!
:rotfl:go down well with whom, and why would you - or anyone else - care? I have a variety of bags in the boot of my car for when I go shopping in the supermarket, including Disney Store (nice strong bag), Morrisons, Waitrose, Heron, Sainsburys, Tesco, and Co-op. I take any of them (ie first ones I see) with me into the store, regardless of which store it is.0
