Yes technically you could use your bag for life in any supermarket but it's not going to go down very well when you're in Tesco and suddenly pull out a load of bright orange bags advertising Sainsburys is it!

Seriously? Do you think the bag police will get you?

Not one person has EVER commented on the random selection of bags for life I use, or suggested I need supermarket-appropriate bags.

i think you're mixing up the concept of bags for life with the phrase 'get a life'. It's a bag, it holds my purchases. End of.

I use the Hessian shopping bags which were designed for Tescos by Orla Kiely. They coordinate with many of my handbags so I always look stylish when purchasing spuds/bread/prosecco :D
Oh LilElvis - could one ever look stylish when buying prosecco? ;)

"Not going to go down very well"?

    That's silly.
I really do doubt that any supermarket would approach any shopper with bags-for-life from another store.

My own Tesco even swapped a Co-op bag-for-life that was past its best.

Probably spend £1 a week on bags. I go for the 10p ones though.

    Can't see the problem myself.

    I hope you're joking.

OP," OMG!!!! I am in Tesco and have the Sainsbury bag!!" Gets a weird look from person at till, which is actually means 'So What!';):D

The only people who might care about going into supermarket or store with wrong bag is someone with perhaps a form of OCD?

The guy at the co-op said to me once, as I pulled out a Tesco bag just after the law was brought into effect, "That's the wrong bag! You can't use that here!" but he was clearly joking. I love our local co-op :-D

I've already mentioned once, the very large amount of posts on the vent board by new posters in the last couple of weeks on controversial subjects , mostly where the posters don't return . Someone's got an axe to grind.

I believe that's normal practice for Tesco. Which is the sensible approach if they actually want you to be advertising them by walking around with Tesco bags.

I use the word "advertising" quite loosely there. It's not as if many of us would be convinced to go to Shop A rather than Shop B based on the bag someone else was carrying. I suppose there might be some people out there who see Pollycat with a certain bag and think "Wow, that stylish woman shops at X, I must copy her".
I need to think of something new here...

It's really just more about advertising the brand ... the more it is seen the more it will ingrain into people's subconscious.

I'm not sure if you're a dig at me over this post:

If you are, I'm sure LilElvis will see it for the joke it was intended to be. We post on a lot of the same threads.
