I've come to the conclusion that the 5p bags were invented behind closed doors meetings of greedy supermarket bosses trying to find a way to prevent people from shopping around.

Of course if you have to pay 5p for bags you will buy the bag for lifes which works out cheaper. But who really wants to repeat that at every supermarket?

This can only be a wind up as otherwise I worry about where common sense and understanding have gone .

I have to say out of all the supermarkets I've bought most of my carrier bags from Sainsbury's.

I don't begrudge forking out 5p for them as they are quite strong compared to other retailers.

I can't even recall the last time I saw a discarded bag stuck on a tree... So it's got to be having a positive impact surely?

    I don't.

So I always take a 'bag for life' out with me.

    Not that hard, is it?

We had the charge long before England. I do remember the thread on here when it first came in for England, outrage but but but but but. Some posters acted like it was the end of the world as we know it.

OP, REALLY!!! You do know you can bring whatever bag you want in to any shop or supermarket. Unless you are really wanting to match the bag with the supermarket and buy one to match each one. :rotfl::rotfl:

I always have a M&S one in my handbag to use where ever I need to.

And once again, a thread that contains the word 'scam' in the title turns out to be not a scam at all.

    Bags for life

    They can be used anywhere.

    Very poor troll attempt.
I've concluded OP doesn't even know what 'scam' means

It's made shopping a lot harder. Now I have to shop round in EVERY shop, just so I can spend 5p on a bag, so that my neighbours realise I'm wealthy enough to be able to buy all those bags.

    It's tough being loaded. :(

Probably spend £1 a week on bags. I go for the 10p ones though.

    Can't see the problem myself.
