It's a forum and everyone is entitled to give their opinion, whether you approve of it or not. Allegedly.

Thank you for informing me of that.

You'll be surprised to know that I posted my opinion in response to pendragon_arther's opinion on my original opinion.

pendragon_arther clearly does not appreciate my opinion, and I don't theirs. However this is a forum and we can disagree with each others opinions.

Will not be long before they go up to 10p and then 20p. I understand the logic behind them and I actually have a lot of bags collected. I just always forget to take them back to use! Crazy. :)

We don't charge for bags but suggest the customer donates into the local hospice box. Guarantee they put more than 5p in.

But you're implying that I buy the bags and then simply throw them away. Carrier bags have many many uses, however if you feel that strongly, why not petition for there to be a limited amount of carrier bags "one selfish wally" is allowed to own.

There's nothing worse then an eco-warrior preaching and prattling on. Ok, possibly a vegan.

    OMG you weren't joking

Sooo, that's about TEN plastic bags a week which amounts to FIVE HUNDRED non biodegradable plastic bags a year. Go on, give us another laugh... gets popcorn... what you you use all those bags for?

BTW I like my steaks blue. But I do care about this planet.

He's knitting a tank top and matching socks out of them - Sainsbury Orange and Asda Green stripes.
I need to think of something new here...

My mum was in Waitrose and she always keeps a load of bags in her boot for shopping. The manager saw here at the till with some tatty old Sainsbury/Tesco bags. He came over and asked if she wanted him to get rid of them and give her some new ones. She politely declined as they weren't ripped or anything.

If you are covered by the new legislation then you are legally required to make a charge for each applicable bag and you must keep records.
I would prefer it if more retailers did it your way with all of the money going to charity but if you should be charging and are not, it will only be a matter of time before a council jobsworth or customer reports you.

If it's only a local shop/charity shop that doesn't employ many staff they don't have to charge for carrier bags.

What really gets me is why Costa charge for a paper bag... It's paper. Primark don't charge why did Costa? They just saw an opportunity to make money!

Completely disagree with the 5p charge - I now have to spend more on my weekly shop, supermarkets don't lower the cost of other things and I have to buy more foodbags just to put in my kids lunch boxes to put their empty yoghurt pots in etc, so really im just spending more and not using any less plastic
