I went and spent a couple of hours last night with a male friend. Nothing happened. 1. Because i'd rather poke my eyes out with a rusty nail and 2. Because after being friends for over 30 odd years, he knows nothing is going to happen.

That seems presumptuous, why do you think after 30 years he'd 'want' anything to happen?

I did a double-take at that comment too.

To me saying 'he knows nothing is going to happen' made it sound like he's desperate to get into the poster's knicks but has been put in his place over 30 years of friendship.

I doubt the poster actually meant it like that though.

Hopefully you are correct, but that's exactly how I read it.

Not presumptuous at all. He told me he had feelings for me many years ago i said no. I am aware you dont just lose feelings for someone so i keep at arms length. I knew he'd had to go to court sometime in April and i saw him in the garden and asked how he got on.

I agree sometimes feeling just disappear, especially when you know that other person is not interested.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
