EE Retentions Deals

I called EE to play the 'found a better deal elsewhere' game, hoping they'd match it and started with saying I wanted to cancel. Long story short, they couldn't match the deal I'd found and so I went ahead with the cancellation.

Does anyone know if I'm now tied into this, or can I call and stop the cancellation if I want to?

Any chance they might call and try and offer a better deal? Have been with orange/EE for 15 years (although I know that doesn't really mean anything!!). I didn't get put through to retentions for some reason.

Am sure there are similar threads to this but haven't been able to find them.

Thanks for any advice :)

Were you given a PAC code ?

When you give this to a new network your number is transferred, if you don't give it to a new network by the 30 day mark then you stay with EE.

Leave EE if you have found a better deal.

Silly question but if the deals better why are you willing to stay with them?

Just call them and cancel they'll haply leave the tariff as it currently is, however as you have found out loyalty counts for nothing and its all about your average monthly spend these days.

I was given a PAC code. Thanks for explaining that, I didn't realise.

I will leave for a better deal, don't worry - just wanted to do some more research on other handsets first :)

If you don't use the PAC code within a month it times out and your contract with EE will continue as it is.
  • I've been a T-Mobile customer for 19 years (yep, 19), mainly because they always made an effort to retain my custom each time I was ready to renew.

Now EE have bought them out I am about to renew my contract, but EE are offering me nothing close to my current contract. In fact it is pretty much double what I'm paying now.

Also, the website is desperately user-unfriendly and has no useful information on it at all.

I'm actually quite upset that 19 years of loyalty means nothing in this day-and-age.

So, the purpose of this post is, what is Tesco's mobile coverage like? They seem to be offering the best deal for me.

Also, I've tried all the advertised sites, but they all expect you to know what phone you want already. My phone requirements are very low, I just want to pay the lease each month - and match/beat my T-Mobile one...

Do you need a new phone? Even if you do, and you say your requirements are low, then it may be cheaper to purchase the phone outright and move to a sim only deal. What are your needs for the tariff?

Retention deals aren't what they used to be. Probably becuase they know that for every customer they lose, another will join to take up a new customer offer/cashback.

Tesco Mobile runs on O2's network.

EE - if you really want to stay with them ring back. DD with them and is 18 month into contract. She was paying £19 for Iphone 5c 1000/UL/1gb initially. She wanted more data as she had ran out the day I was visiting her in uni (she was just under a year into contract). The person she spoke to offered her an extra gb for £6 a month extra. She said no. I said ring back and speak to someone else. She did and he offered her an extra gb for £1 a month extra and started it from that day for free as he could see her data was gone with 10 days left till renew.

If you want SIM only and have home BB with Virgin try them. I pay £5 per month for 260/UL/1gb on rolling monthly contract. I then buy a handset when needed as it's cheapest way for me.

If you've not moved in 19 years then they've no reason to think you'll move now, so of course they'll offer you only a rack rate. Forget loyalty, because it doesn't exist. With your apparent handset requirements, you be better off buying your own and going to SIM only, on which TM have some good deals.

EE tend not to offer very attractive upgrade deals of you contact them directly. You will probably get a reasonable deal if you upgrade via CPW or another third party though.
